Sorry if I don't find that even a good job, let alone very good. It's the easiest job of all time- there's no administration work at all.

This is no different than not being able to pick your own team, so you go home.

The only people who buy the "he did it first" defense are you and Joe. And no offense, but you'd still carry McConnell's water regardless, so that doesn't matter.

When the old and poor people don't receive their SSA and SSI checks come January 1, they will throw an uproar. The party might not care right now, but they'll care come November 2020 because in most of the states and seats that they won, they can't reliable get enough votes from the remainder of the voting public.

ETA: Also, when was the last time that the Federal government did a partial shut down and it worked out for the GOP's benefit? They've lost the public opinion war each and every time Since Clinton's time in office.

They would have had a shot (a small one since Trump flat out called for a shutdown but still) in a couple months since the Dems took over...but any chance of that is dead. He is going to screw over everyone over a wall no one wants and we werent supposed to pay for.

He needs another Caravan or a terrorist attack anywhere but Syria or this could get real ugly. If it happens in Syria he might as well resign ;)

Yes, 86% of the government will still operate, but welfare and SSA checks will not be paid. A shutdown has a direct customer impact, using business parlance.

How much does that mean when people are living paycheck to paycheck, or gov't distribution to gov't distribution, as it were? If I can't buy food today, what good will that do me a month from now, perhaps two?

Also, how much of that 86% working are doing it without a paycheck?

Last I heard, many of the people working will not get paid until the shutdown is over.

So go ahead and say "all is well". It's not.
