I'd edit 'tariffs' to read 'Trump's economy'. The tax bill was voted through one month earlier and the tariffs put an exclamation on it.

And the Mitch play wont work because Trump has already threatened the shutdown and walked away from it. That means every time it is hinted at not only will he be asked about it but it will be mentioned in every story. He blinked and lost. (as usual) As long as the Wall is part of his funding he can never blame anyone because even the GOP wouldnt give it to him
Trump in this battle is now the bully who backed down from the fight after his bluff was called. Now every time he threatens someone everyone knows he already slinked away so it wont work. He is feckless...or to steal from lame *** trolls like Old Pio he is "Neville Chamberlain". Hell Jimmy Carter was more effectual than Trump is.

The problem isn't whether or not it works or not. The problem is that it works with 40% of the population and the folks that control the White House, The Senate, and The Supreme Court. That's a lot of power. 2020 The Dems need to cut into that some power some more.

Some could take Trumps recent moves as a shift in a positive direction - funding the govt, getting out of Syria and the Crime bill. But I have little doubt that each is very self serving in the end. And Ill will post why.
