Note Rod Rosenstein is included in the picture...

Ummm, who proved it a lie?

Re: POTUS 45.44: "That's Not Law" said Trump

Supposedly, Manafort has a joint defense agreement with Red Don, which allows their lawyers to share info.

Speculation is, Mueller knew Manafort was lying from the beginning, and used this to allow Manafort to think he believed the story Manafort was selling, and to also pass this on to Red Don.

Note, Mueller didn't file this notice until he got Red Don's written responses. Responses which may reiterate a series of events which Mueller already knows to be false.

Yeah, Manafort always seemed like a low rent grifter who hit it big by dealing with shadowy Russian figures with ties to Putin before the rest of the Republican party jumped on the cash-for-treason gravy train. I seriously doubt he knows anything that Mueller doesn't at this point so its all about holding onto hope for a pardon by Chump on his way out the door of the WH.

Re: POTUS 45.44: "That's Not Law" said Trump

That's what Red Don's been complaining about, the Fed signalling they may be raising rates.

So you're saying this is Powell reacting to tweets and that rates aren't really neutral as Powell said today? I'm a little skeptical. I believe rates really are neutral (see my post earlier today about stocks in bear state) meaning they are where they should be for a while. I think rates need to stay here a while and let folks get used to the notion of home mortgages rates now starting with a 5 or 6 and not a 3 or 4. The Fed needed to dial the knob to here to have margin in case they need it later.

You think Powell reacted; I suspect Trump (OK, Kudlow, because Trump's not that smart) foresaw the Fed backing down the rate of increases given present economic data and Trump pre-Tweeted so as to appear powerful and influencing Powell.

If there's a tariff on all cars, I'll short the market big time.

The chicken tax is one HUGE reason why Toyota and Nissan build trucks here in the US. Employing a lot of people.

...and consumers are paying a lot more for vehicles than they would if we had free trade. It helps 10s of thousands of americans and hurts 100s of millions.

Hurt is relative. The dollars spent by those 10's of thousands of workers goes a long way. Kind of like income distribution.

And it's not as if the imported trucks would be that much less expensive- most US built and Japanese built cars cost the same to make. The tax isn't really being imposed, other than the factories here in the US vs. Japan.

CNN's approach is correct. MSNBC not airing it at all is wrong in the long term especially since they arent going to ignore everything Trump says anyways.

Speaking of CNN former anchor Soledad Obrien torched them over the weekend:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Former CNN anchor Soledad O'Brien tore into the network for giving a platform to "racists" and "white supremacists."<br><br>It's "a ratings ploy btw," she tweeted. <a href="https://t.co/4K2asEX9Fm">https://t.co/4K2asEX9Fm</a></p>— HuffPost (@HuffPost) <a href="https://twitter.com/HuffPost/status/1067174841927811072?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">November 26, 2018</a></blockquote>

She is right. CNN sits their and rails into the Trumpers for the things they say and do, then have Trumpers on to defend what they say or do in panel. All they do is mainstream this stuff in hopes for better ratings. That is why they talk abotu Climate Change and have Climate Denying Liars like Rick "Please Google My Last Name" Santorum on to spout their lies.

I don't want to draw this out but she is wrong. Having the idiot opposition on allows people to see it up close and personal and to expose it front and center. Just because they're on TV (and this goes for anyone making any argument left, neutral or center) doesn't automatically legitimize them. Plus doing that would only add fuel to the derp fire that all CNN does is hate on the President.

Re: POTUS 45.44: "That's Not Law" said Trump

Don't tell the WH but Powell's words are more market effecting than a tweet.

Powell rolled a +2.3 to +2.95% on the three major indices today. (Which aligns to an earlier post by me saying anything over a 2% move in a day has a visible cause.)

Loretta Mester (FRB Cleveland) and Charles Evans (FRB Chicago) have speaking engagements tomorrow. I wonder what they'll roll out. They're in regions that GM's announcements will affect.

Somebody has to pay for your subsidies. Coal and steel subsidies are putting companies out of business. There's a real cost. Just because trucks have been subject to the tariffs for years...doesn't mean there's a real cost to consumers and any companies that rely on them.

Another way to think of it...if everyone's industry got a 25% tariff, nobody would be able to buy anything and the economy would shut down. Smoot Hawley was nothing compared to the costs of tariffs today due to globalization and connectivity.

The cost to make cars in Japan may be the same...but its not in other countries.

But aren't the Toyota and Nissan US built trucks full sized? The Chicken Tax seems to affect the small truck market (Hilux, Navara, Triton, Ute).

My Tacoma was assembled in Mexico (~90% NAFTA parts, the rest from Japan) with a U.S. built engine. Tundras are assembled in the U.S.

Sorry but I disagree. You dont get to play all concerned and offended and then have them on. You want to play the middle fine go for it. But Jake Tapper and Don Lemon arent helping in any way, they are just giving these clowns free airtime to spout their crap. Then they attack the clowns which the clowns then use to back up that they are being treated unfairly.

The election of Trump and the rise of racist, misogynistic ********s DESPITE near constant ripping of them proves that the "exposing it" idea doesnt work. CNN isnt changing any minds on the Right or Left they are just playing Jerry Springer style games in the hopes the conflict breeds ratings.
