POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

Obama never spent the first three weekends of his presidency golfing, and his wife never was in a separate state requiring her own security and his kids never jetted off to a foreign country for business requiring even more security. And did I mention this happened in the first 30 days of his presidency??

She wanted to stay in Chicago but they thought there would be too much heat from the public. I think every president/first family should proceed how they see fit and what works best for them.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

I'm willing to give Melania the benefit of the doubt for the rest of the school year. That said, I'm not exactly optimistic that Trump Tower won't remain White House North come June.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

1,432 days to go in the plan for Project MAGA. Current task status:

1. Lock Her Up (Not Started)
2. Build The Wall (Not Started)
3. Increase Tariffs on Imports (Not Started)
4. Immigration Restrictions (Pending Further Executive Review)
5. Renegotiate NAFTA (Pending Further Executive Review)
6. Repeal Obamacare (Pending Action by Congress)
7. Reduce Corporate Taxes (Pending Action by Congress)
8. Simplify Income Tax Code (Pending Action by Congress)
9. Step Up Immigration Enforcement / ICE Hiring (In Progress)
10. Withdraw From TPP Negotiations (Complete)

What did I miss?

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

I agree with this Kep. But by the same token, you need to get your own house in order too. When I read people defending some ridiculous gun law, which even the ACLU is against, it puts me in a tough spot. And how about this nonsense http://deadspin.com/espn-sued-by-tennis-broadcaster-fired-over-venus-willia-1792355949 For people who are traditionally republican it's hard to switch teams when the other side is supporting really unsavory stuff, even when you are unhappy with some of the things your own party is doing. The ESPN thing isn't necessarily a political issue, but I think most people associate the hardcore PC stuff with democrats.

An honest question for you...how many people do you really think are being influenced by Alex Jones and all the fake news out there? I went on youtube and a lot of his recent videos only have around 40k to 50k views. There is no doubt him and other far right media sources have an influence on some people, but I can't imagine it is more than a couple million people at most and Trump got over 60 million votes. You and others want to think there is this vast group of tens of millions of really hateful, nasty people out there who are supporting Trump and it doesn't match with reality.

You really aren't going to give up this gun issue? this wasn't absurd. It wasn't wide-reaching. It was extremely limited an now people like Adam Lanza can obtain a gun.

I am honestly stunned that you would latch into the ACLU and disability advocates like they were gospel, on this one issue.

How you can support an Adam Lanza obtaining a gun is beyond me.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

I am willing to give some latitude. I didn't harp on bush for his vacations and even when I was vehemently against Obama, I defended his golfing and vacations.

What the trumps are doing is not even remotely like any other president before him. They are taking the weekends off on the public dime. They are treating three locations as a White House in addition to Camp David.

He's allowing unprecedented access to presidential daily activities at Mar-a-lago unlike Bush's western White House. And while I may have forgotten, I am completely unaware of Obama having a third or fourth White House outside of camp David or Washington.

I will give the president a fairly wide allowance on vacations, but when he's taking one every weekend, that's where my support stops. He is not even doing his presidential duties seven days a week.

There was nothing stopping Adam Lanza's doctor, psychiatrist, whoever from reporting him to the FBI and having him added to the do not buy database if they thought he was a threat. This law has nothing at all to do with that. You conveniently leave out the fact that he murdered his mom and used her guns in the shooting. Was he even on SSDI and was his mom handling his money? I've never seen it reported if that was the case. You're completely misrepresenting the facts to fit whatever agenda you have on this.

Maybe if he got paid more he would work every weekend :p

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

So, random thought. Does Trump hate NATO because the leader of NATO has a better title than he does? Supreme Commander of Allied Forces is tough to beat...

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

I don't have an agenda like you. My agenda, if you want to call it that, is the responsible application of gun control like 90+% of Americans want.

You, on the other hand, are completely comfortable with a disturbed person owning a gun. You have misrepresented the entire law from day one. You thought it was a law preventing seniors from getting a gun. You were wrong. You said it only applied to someone who collected benefits. You were wrong. You thought it allowed the SSA to determine who could buy a gun. You were wrong. You thought this was a wide-reaching gun grab. You were wrong.

You have been proven wrong every step of the way with your ill-conceived propaganda that you've received from the NRA and taken it without any question or verification. You have done zero independent checks of the law or its application.

Might be the best title ever conceived. You're probably dead right.

Wrong. If someone is a threat I want their healthcare provider to report them to the do not buy list. This law has absolutely nothing to do with that. It's that simple.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

New Rule was better. If Obama had said what Trump said about the US not being so innocent, all the usual suspects would've immediately decried it as a part of his "Apology Tour" and cited it as proof that he hates America.

When Trump says it, he's correct because the CIA and FBI are full of globalist killers who are out to get him. "The Magic R" at work.

Yep, the magic (R) is incredible. It's been true ever since Reagan and Iran/Contra. The double standard on what Republicans can get away with is staggering. It's as if the entire country decided "they're just fluffers for the 1%, of course they're going to behave that way." Plus they're the short bus supporter party and we're all supposed to pretend everybody's normal.

To quote Maher, "when I said that I got kicked off of ABC".

To quote Maher, "when I said that I got kicked off of ABC".

Bill is never more passionate than when he's talking about Bill.

Milo Yiannopoulos was actually great. I completely understand what he's doing now. I don't understand why Maher didn't pick up on the fact that being a Trump booster is just an extension of his tactics -- it's leverage for causing people to flip out. I enjoyed his appearance and boy did I not expect to.

He said something very interesting: that liberals expect people to be internally logically consistent whereas real people are messy and self-contradictory. I've been reading histories of the Enlightenment lately and this is a point that comes up again and again: the Age of Reason included attempts to extend deterministic categories of rationality across all human behavior, with the ideal of humans behaving rationally. This was the motivation behind for example Rousseau's theories of education and the reduction ad tyranny of his "General Will." I think it has always been a blind spot in liberalism, and that guy is using it to make his point (and a lot of money).

And what if they don't have a healthcare provider?

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

tD is tD. Mookie wouldn't do too much attachment of "R" to him and the stuff occurring.
He is getting away with what he is because he is he. Any "R" be dammed.

You can go as academic on his bit as you want, but sometimes a douche is just a douche, and that is what Yiannopoulos is. Sometimes Maher can be as well, which does make it rather funny that he missed the bit himself.
