POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

My money is on Kellyanne but Priebus is not far behind!

Priebus is safe until it's determined he's the WH insider leaking the daily goings-ons to the press. :D

That being real wouldn't surprise me; he's more GOPer than Trumper. And he's the only one in there that hasn't been the target of a good behind-the-scenes story yet. (Trump, Bannon, Conway, Spicer, all have.)

Name five positive things Trump has done that haven't been thrown out in court.

He put an end to the Obama SSA gun grab. I'm sure there are others. This wasn't the sort of election where you were looking for positive. It was more who would do less damage and I would still back him over the alternative today despite all the hysteria.

If you're looking for money from the government in any capacity other than SS retirement benefits, why shouldn't you first have to sell off assets you own that are not required for you to live? You own two cars and want welfare? You only need one car (stated gov't policy for a long, long time). Your bank account holds how much? If you're over $X, then you have to use your savings first. Guns are expensive assets, and selling one to get a couple hundred dollars can feed people for a few weeks.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

Let's break this down:

BREAKING: Fox News is reporting Trump was fully briefed on the Flynn call with Russia (Completely TRUE)

after it happened (if it was before it happened, that would really be a scoop!)

-- and allowed Pence to be lied to. The Fox article doesn't say that in any way, shape, or form.
The record is that Pence's statement RE Flynn was on 1/15. DOJ first contacts WH counsel RE Flynn on 1/26 at which time Trump orders a legal review. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems for this statement to be true, the DOJ would have to have contacted Trump directly and privately (before he was President) without the knowledge of WH counsel McGahn and others. Did Sally Yates have Trump's personal cell number?

So Fox didn't report this, and to be charitable, it's very misleading and total speculation that to be true requires some extraordinarily unlikely events to have occurred, but never the less it's approaching 30,000 likes/retweets at the moment, mostly I assume, by folks willing to take it at face value.

The point isn't even whether this particular tweet is right or wrong, it's just one example of many statements by pundits on both the right and left that feed the machine and help keep us all at odds. And it's not slowing down any time soon.

Perhaps in this case Mr. Abramson feels he is fighting the good fight against evil and to his credit he does, later in his feed, acknowledge this statement may not be the correct explanation. That has 8 likes/retweets.

I agree with EODS that we all own a little part of the state of American politics.

Trump has to go. End of story.

Facts no longer matter, and this administration has told us that. Why should I care if stories about this bunch of incompetent boobs get blown out of proportion?

I think most of the people are skint to begin with. I doubt you would find much money.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

I laughed really hard over lunch.

A friend told me going from Obama to Trump is like switching from watching calm, staid (boring?) Stuart Varney to Jim Cramer for financials news.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

Uh... what gun grab? Or are we talking about that like how Pres. Obama started a caliphate in America?

Because less than 75,000 people with the most severe types of mental disorders were potentially denied guns, it constitutes a gun grab. Keep in mind, this was the maximum number of people who could have been denied a firearm. Not the number of people who were actually denied a firearm. Most of these people needed help just to get through the day.

Re: POTUS 45.4 - What's a Battle?

Which self interest is more important to people? It's not necessarily voting against their self interest, rather voting in favor of a different one. At least that's how 95% of voters rationalize their behavior, even if they end up worse off by others' standards.
Well when you continuously cut off your nose to spite your face and you're a single issue voter who clearly doesn't understand the unintended consequences of improving that one issue, then yes you're voting against your own self interest whether you know it or not. Like the people who want to ban abortion but clearly don't understand how that will just increase poverty, welfare, and a ton of other issues that will just drain the economy as a whole.

If their healthcare provider thinks they are a threat then they should be put into the database. Already a system for that.

You would be surprised. A friend of mine works for SSI, and the quantity of people who file claims while having thousands in a savings account would sadden you. It was her job to tell them to take a walk.

And it's either keep your gun or put food in your mouth. Unless you want to eat a bullet, sell the gun and then talk to someone about a handout.
