Re: POTUS: 45.37: The Earth is Flat and the Babies Are Crying

He left when the SCOTUS replacement discussions began.

If I were to hazard a guess, his leaving likely had to do with a few factors. He's said before on here that he suffers from depression, and with this change, along with world-is-falling posts that came from almost every liberal on the political threads, which is almost every poster on the political threads these days, he was hitting a critical mass and had to step away for the sake of his own sanity.

I certainly can't get inside the man's mind, but from his parting posts it looks to me like the decision was based more upon a determination that he wants to make a difference in the world and posting here is just a time waster, in that regard, as opposed to being driven from the site.

Come on now, is this anything more than projection?

Who chased Kep off the boards? Seems he left on his own and not because he got hounded away.

Having said that, the dude needs some time in the sanitarium to cool off and recharge his batteries because he was becoming the left's version of Bob Gray. Kep was one of the most knowledgeable liberal posters out here until he joined the Bernie cult and then he just went berserk. Hopefully we can get the pre-2016 version back if/when he returns. ;)

No one, and Brent wasnt saying anyone did. He was talking about it in context to what happened to Swami.

Maybe I'm wrong. That's just how I read it. Go back and read the posts on the day or two following the SCOTUS appointment. That's when Kepler posted a pic with "Tosca Out!" captioned. He's also mentioned his depression more than once on the site. Read all the despair coming from a lot of posters that day. So that's how I read the situation. Perhaps Hovey has Kepler's motivation right and I'm wrong. Kepler didn't say, so I'm not likely to ever know.

It seemed to me like he just decided this was a waste of time and that he'd rather act. And sure, perhaps the increasingly off-the-rails nature of the threads helped push him in that direction.

Without his rather prolific contributions here, we are left with a whole lot of uninteresting noise. :p

That's one thing that bothers me on the interwebs: getting really personal/chasing people off boards like this. It's uncalled for. A few people from just here "retired" because of it. Sad.

I highly doubt Kep left because he was chased. He was more than capable of dealing with both constructive and destructive criticism. He probably did just feel it was an ineffective and frustrating waste of his time.

I hope he comes back. He had a great deal to offer.

Kep is probably right that his time and energy is better served getting involved in campaigns for candidates he truly believes in, if that's really his plan. He wasn't winning over any posters not fully aboard the Euro socialism train.

The Nyt just asked if people think the trump balloon in the UK is disrespectful. I’ve had it. Going to sit and compose my thoughts for them.

What I think is disrespectful? The rally last night where the president mocked the me too movement and his supporters roared approval. Raping the environment on a daily basis. Anything dump says and does.
Not a god**** inflatable balloon.

Re: POTUS: 45.37: The Earth is Flat and the Babies Are Crying

This is kind of awesome that they're calling him out on it, but still very unsettling that American politics has devolved into this.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/07/05/politics/immigration-separation-border-trump/index.html

(CNN)Although the family separation crisis at the nation's southern border has slipped off the front pages, the crisis remains: There are still more than 2,000 children still separated from their parents.

We think. Why don't we know the exact number? Because the US government continues to refuse to release any sorts of figures on how many children have been reunited with their parents.

In fact, after using the 2,000 figure for days, the Department of Health and Human Services now estimates it could be closer to 3,000.

How is President Donald Trump dealing with that crisis? By tweeting, of course.

Trump unleashed a trio of tweets Thursday morning -- all dealing with immigration.

"Congress must pass smart, fast and reasonable Immigration Laws now," he tweeted. "Law Enforcement at the Border is doing a great job, but the laws they are forced to work with are insane. When people, with or without children, enter our Country, they must be told to leave without our Country being forced to endure a long and costly trial. Tell the people 'OUT,' and they must leave, just as they would if they were standing on your front lawn. Hiring thousands of 'judges' does not work and is not acceptable - only Country in the World that does this!"

For good measure, Trump added: "Congress - FIX OUR INSANE IMMIGRATION LAWS NOW!"

What you may have noticed in Trump's tweets is that there is a) no mention of the children already separated from their parents due to the Trump administration's "zero-tolerance" policy and b) no clear directive to Congress about any sort of comprehensive immigration reform proposal aside from "FIX OUR INSANE IMMIGRATION LAWS NOW," which is, um, sort of non-specific.

What's remarkable about the lack of action -- or even a plan of action -- is that time is running out. Here are a few of the upcoming deadlines as set by a federal judge in California last week:
*By Friday, the Trump administration is supposed to have guaranteed that every child separated from a parent as a result of the "zero-tolerance" policy at the border is in touch with their parents
*By July 10, all children 5 and under have to be reunited with their parents (there are estimated to be around 100 of those kids)
*By July 26, all children separated from their parents at the border have to be reunited

Depends on your definition of winning over.

If it means someone posts less stupidity like this, and get them to say this instead, maybe you've done your job.

You don't have to get someone to worship at the altar of Sanders to make a difference. Change is incremental. We're better off with him here.

I think it’s very short sighted and foolish on their part. We’re close allies and where they are leaving the EU need to negotiate new trade terms. I doubt this helps their cause.

Of course you don’t like anyone making fun of dump. He’s doing what you want him to do.
