Re: POTUS 45.35: Still Winning. Don't care if you're tired of winning.

Sessions and Sanders use Bible to defend ripping children from parents.

What defense are the usual suspects going to come up with for this one?

Specifically, Sessions uses Romans 13.

Now, I had to brush up on this one, but it's:
"1 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.
So... are we retroactively cancelling the Revolutionary War because that was an act of rebelling against "what God has instituted."

Also, I'm not quite sure Sessions wants to use the *full* text of Romans 13, as it continues:
8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. 9 The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,”[a] and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

11 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. 14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.
Which... I'm pretty sure Mr. Trump and company have promptly ignored that section of text.

Yet again, à-la-carte Christianity.

Last I knew, our laws weren't based on the bible.

The IG's report calls James Comey "insubordinate".

That's not a good word in Federal bureaucracy speak.

It's right there with "lacked candor" (see: IG's description of Andrew McCabe).

Re: POTUS 45.35: Still Winning. Don't care if you're tired of winning.

Ten Commandments 5 -10 form a nice basis, don't you think?
So pretty common sense basic altruisms have to be based on the bible?

They may have served as a nice starting point, but once again, our laws trump(oh, what did I just do?) whatever the bible says.

After all, we are not a country of Sharia law.

Perhaps this fact should be remembered when anyone wants to bring back up Jim Acosta's tirade during the presser today.

Lemme guess, weren't Democrats, including many on this board, decrying what Comey did regarding Hillary's email announcements?

See, we can walk and chew gum at the same time. And use reason.

Besides, Trumpy said himself that he fired Comey because "the Russian thing" was hanging around. So what are you so "just asking the questions-y" attempting to get at? Come on, come right out with it. Be a man.

Re: POTUS 45.35: Still Winning. Don't care if you're tired of winning.

What I wonder is why does drew have the knee=jerk reaction to defend every time Trumpy says something stupid? I mean, he says he didn't vote in the election, and he says he's not a Trump supporter, but every time, he just has to jump in and try to defend him.

And the Republicans said Dems had a "messiah complex" about Obama.

Same with Flag who claims to not even like Trump that much, yet is chanting slogans now.

Re: POTUS 45.35: Still Winning. Don't care if you're tired of winning.

Someone would be over 100 years old if they had a kid that served in Korea

While it's very probably a misstatement, there have been hundreds of border skirmishes since the armistice and I know that the US lost several helicopters and crew north of the DMZ over the years at least through the late seventies. Without looking it up I'm not sure, but it would not surprise me at all that the remains of American servicemen lost long after the armistice haven't all been repatriated yet. So it's actually possible it's a true statement as it is.

Re: POTUS 45.35: Still Winning. Don't care if you're tired of winning.

Odd that the part of the IG report Sic is completely avoiding is the part where the Hillary investigation had "no political bias". I'm sure he'll get to that soon.

Re: POTUS 45.35: Still Winning. Don't care if you're tired of winning.

I don't think Cheeto Benito was lying when he spoke to the press. The man contrives and misconstrues things in his head so that he can understand it, and feed his ego, that by the time he's left the meeting, he fully believes what he's relaying is the truth. At least in regards to policy. Which makes it all the more dangerous that he flat out refuses anyone other than a translator into negotiation meetings.

This is how people beat lie detector tests, and why they are unreliable: if you believe your own truth, it won't show up.

You really think I give him a genuine defense all the time? Half the time(like tonight) I say something tongue in cheek, and in a lot of cases I say nothing at all. I would hope for most people what I posted was an obvious joke. My grandfather served in Korea and his parents would be 120 and 118 if they were still alive, so I think I could work out the age difference.

It's a sad state of affairs that people wish physical ill to those they don't agree with politically. Obviously there are a lot of people doing that on the right as well and that isn't any better. The divisiveness isn't helping our country one bit.

It's rare I agree with Drew, but in this case.....look in the mirror. The extremists, left or right, need to look in the mirror.
