The interesting question is, why? The answer is Republicans feel better served by their party apparatus than Democrats. The idea that that is the voters' fault and not the party organization's fault is a bizarre type of out of touch entitlement.

RNC rhetoric, as grotesque and stupid as it is, plays to Republican voters. DNC rhetoric is mealy-mouthed and always cowering in the face of what the donor class wants; it plays to upper middle class voters obsessed with identity issues who don't want to rock the boat economically. Those are the people in graduate school seminars and on Sunday talk show panels and the people who watch Colbert and Sam Bee and John Oliver. But those are not the people we need to electrify to win elections.

Is it any wonder a higher percentage of Republicans turn out?

I would add that a lot of what comes from the left motivates Republicans to vote as well.

I wish I could find it - but I just read a piece this week on this. Boiled down to republicans being so homogenous in demographics that banding together was simple. Where as Democrats are comprised of many different types of people

There is a brilliant video out there that I can't find right now about how "left" and "right" are meme complexes that stay in existence by cooperating to enrage half the people against each other.

Why? Why is easy. It's easier to vote and campaign when you're against something than when you're for something. They hate government. All of them. They don't think the government does anything for them. That's easy to vote for.

The things that they vote for and are for are easy as well.

Stop trying to put everything in a box...this isnt theory we have real world results that you can look at and use to help you understand.

Please show me the real world evidence that shows Hillary or any candidate lost because people argued on a message board.

Hard to feel good about an entity that has been in business 398 years and has lost (significant) money for 17 straight years. I worry about our future, but not because of the social issues. Those aren’t going to move the needle either way but unfortunately they get all the attention.

It hasn't "lost" money. It's running a deficit because some people refuse to implement a system that will generate sufficient revenue.

And by "some people", I mean, the wealthy and Republicans.

Clean Air. Clean Water. Energy Independence. Sound, competent Foreign Policy. Good jobs. Good wages. Treating human beings like humans (immigration). A balanced budget which started under Obama with bringing down deficits which the GOP has destroyed already. Health Care for all. Social Security for all. Tuition Free college. College Debt reform. Real Gun Control.

The Government is not a business. If you want to treat it like one, perhaps supporting the guy that was able to bankrupt a casino wasn't a good call.

Just stop. Why don't you take a look at what has been undone in the last year and a half as a starting point for what they had already done.

Clean Air and Clean Water was happening under the Obama administration by keeping the current EPA standards in place. Republicans in Minnesota tried to throw out the clean water standard and their Democratic Governor said no. Flint had water problems because the GOP thought cash was more important than human beings.

Energy Independence. That can be achieved through sound energy policy and taking a lead on clean energy in the world. It's also going to be a huge cash cow. Republicans have sold out to Coal and Oil.

Sound competent foreign policy can be achieved by not hiring John Bolton and Rudy Guiliani to your administration.

Good jobs and good wages can be achieved through programs that retrain coal miners for 21st century jobs, good education standards, and new initiatives for tech schools. We've been bad mouthing them for years, we need to stop. And that can be helped by real counseling in our schools. School counseling funding has been slashed to bone by Republicans.

Immigration. Complete immigration reform. Including a complete study on the jobs Americans do not want and are not filling and a way to fill those from Mexico and Central America with documentation.

Balanced Budget. Simple Real Tax Reform. If we need it, we pay for it. IF we don't need it we get rid of it. The State Department should get increased funding. The military should get less. Diplomacy is cheaper, and it works better.

Social Security fixes are easy. The Current tax setup for it is wrong, and it's regressive. Fix it.

Tuition free college is cheaper than prisons. Nuff said there. Fund it. Tax for it. Do it.

Health Care for all. Medicare for all. Raise the tax if you have to. Insurance companies had their shot. They BLEW IT. So, take them out of the loop.

Gun control. Treat guns like cars to start. Offer buyback programs across the US for Military style weapons. This one will take a long time but let's start somewhere.

And, here ya go. can't enact nice new programs that will help people unless they're fully paid for. can't get more money to pay for them because Repubs will not go for tax increases.


So, nothing gets done, and Repubs get elected next time.
