Mr. Todd probably didn't get the full quote.
Mr. Todd would not have truncated the quote to misrepresent what Mulvaney said, would he?

Since the last part has absolutely nothing to do with lobbyists, explain how he misrepresented Slick Mick's feelings on lobbyists?

I'll jump into this, too, and ask how this is better??

The starting two lines are - if you are NOT in my district, and want me to listen to you, give me money, otherwise go away,
The last line is part of his freaking job.

BTW, this "correction" misses the other part of his quite begging the bankers to get involved into lobbying, of which, only a handful of congressmen are in their district- so they would be REQUIRED to pay to be listened to- and if they did, he would have listened and done something about it.

The guy is a total crook, and is swap scum.

Basically what he is saying is if you are not involved in getting me elected by either voting for me or giving me money I don't have any time for you. That's not how it's supposed to work.

Are you seriously trying to nit pick the quote to somehow find it not to be corrupt?? What kind of person are you?

You spend a lot of time talking about the Clintons and how corrupt they are, and then somehow try to come up with some kind of excuse for a direct quite telling lobbyists that they have to pay to play???? You are ok with corruption that has to do with government but not with corruption that has to do with foundations that largely try to help people????

What rep doesn't? That's their voters. You don't get elected without them. All my reps care about the people in their districts. Always have.

News should run stories on pols without identifying their name or party, just "x said this." I'd bet at least half the time most people would literally not know what to think, since their calculation inevitably runs: "that's my party therefore how do I justify the statement" or "that's the other party so how do I condemn the statement."

No, the point is that if you are in an industry that he covers, and is outside of his district, you must pay for him to listen to you.
