Gotta agree with this. Perez (who I know nothing about btw and therefore have no opinion of) did the right thing here and actually found a way to make the DNC relevant. Keep the pressure on, force more disclosures and yes if treasonous collusion is found in a civil rather than criminal trail force the GOP to fork over some of their ill gotten rubles. The whole money laundering cult that is the Republican Party needs to be exposed Stormy Daniels style, and this is just one way of doing it. ;)

Speaking of strategy, the conventional wisdom is that this lawsuit is just a fundraising strategy for the Democrats, too, and not a pursuit of justice. As CBS News' Kathryn Watson notes in her reporting, "The DNC is dealing with significant debt after the 2016 election, and lags behind the Republican National Committee in fundraising. As of the end of February, the DNC had $10.1 million in the bank, but owed $6.3 million, according to Federal Election Commission records."

Perez is trying to get the DNC moving again after the 2016 interlude -- he is basically rebuilding the party from scratch with technocrats and trying, very gently, to discard the dead wood. Remember, he was the compromise candidate. Ellison would have done it all at once and probably faced a bureaucratic backlash so strong it would have prevented any real movement. We have thirty years of ingrown rent seeking toenails in the Democratic establishment, from Clintonista time servers to CBC slumlords, and they all have to be shown the door in a way politically savvy enough that we don't lose their supporters. The tacit agreement has been they can stay on until they latch on elsewhere in the Carousel. We don't have anything as obvious as Fox News to park them in, but we do have a myriad of media and think tanks who will take them just to trade on their Rolodexes.

Perez is a very, very smart guy, and he has great political instincts. He is OK in front of the camera but not great -- he has primarily been making the rounds to prevent some of the other candidate voices from co-opting the party and starting the whole machine over again. He also had to be somewhat careful of his flank because in a pure, fair democratic environment the voices that win will probably be more extreme (which is to say: sane) than the donor class wants to hear. Perez is no revolutionary; he's scared to abandon the party to principles and like Obama he thinks we can somehow serve two masters, and history be d-mned.

Anyway, there are lots of moving parts and the kind of simplistic narratives we hear here are as wrong and irrelevant as some loudmouth calling into sports radio.

Cooley has already been found out of compliance with Standard 501 by the ABA. They recently lost in their efforts to get a restraining order against the ABA to keep this secret from prospective students and did little to improve their chances of having that decision reversed with this year’s embarrassing incoming class, with similar credentials to last year’s (147/141/138). But the school is still making a fortune with an entering class of 458, third largest in the country (after Georgetown and Harvard). Cooley accepted 85.6% of applicants, far and away the highest acceptance rate in the country. (Vermont, with 159 entering 1Ls, was second, with a 78.8% acceptance rate.)

No wonder President Trump couldn't contain his glee, expressed over Twitter this weekend: "So funny the Democrats have sued the Republicans for Winning. Now he R's counter and force them to turn over a treasure trove of material, including Servers and Emails!"

Wikileaks, whose founder, Julian Assange, is also being sued by the DNC, had a similar message, albeit with a fundraising twist. "The Democrats are suing and for revealing how the DNC rigged the Democratic primaries," Wikileaks tweeted Friday. "Help us counter-sue. We've never lost a publishing case and discovery is going to be amazing fun."

Note to the DNC: When the people you're suing are having "fun," you may want to re-think your strategy.

Scoobs, no offense but this is absurd. Chump is also tweeting how Mueller is about to wrap up his probe and exonerate him. Do you believe that as well? Wikileaks and their Russian friends already have all of the DNC e-mails already. Do you really think they held back embarrassing material??? That. Makes. No. Sense.

I'd love to think things are as simple as you do, but I don't. You don't sue if you don't have the goods. And there is no way they have the goods.

These are two big assumptions and I'm not sure how you're making the leap here. As with Nixon you've got a pretty good idea of criminal conduct and can piggy back off of that investigation. You aren't going to know what "the goods" are unless you force a disclosure via a lawsuit. I mean, asking them nicely isn't going to get them to disclose their treasonous connections, is it?

The lawsuit by the Dems is dumb and risks damaging the lead they have with the public.

Yet this is even dumber by the GOP. They could easily have played the victim...rather they appear to want to turn it into a 'he said she said' situation. And any 'he said she said' with the GOP in all probability result in them putting their foot in their mouth.
