I see you think there's a bunch of wild west shootouts going on. Weapons are only not used on either side because it's a sort of stalemate case. Both sides are waiting for the other to fire first. Nobody sane wants that impotence on them. And neither side wants to give them up because they know they lose whatever defensive measures they have, whether citizenry or government, specifically because there's no guarantee to trust the other side. And yet, for the longest time before all this fear-mongering started at the end of WWII, we all seemed to live peacefully and happily.

Great fear mongering. Pretty typical of you and your buddies.

Reasonable people are not demanding that you turn all of your guns in. Reasonable people are asking for reasonable restrictions and responsibility for gun owners, just like the reasonable restrictions on every other amendment (including the First).

Again, you dream that you having weapons has some kind of influence, other than the police finding reasons to better arm themselves with tactical weapons, that they don't really need.

Guns are the solution to nothing. Nothing at all.

The real fear mongering of guns is coming from the sheep that follow the NRA and gun industry. Like you. Fear of any "political"-ism that you can come up with. One does not have to "fear monger" when you see how many people die- that's reality.

BTW, if nothing happens in Australia in 5 years, what next? It will take longer, or are you and your buddies wrong? Personally, I don't see anything happening.

Assuming you consider yourself reasonable, that is exactly what you are doing in the other thread. Any sort of limitation means the chance to abuse power.

But you can't be specific in actual examples of how holding guns influences people- without the obvious threat of armed insurrection.

The whole Militia part in the constitution is to defend our country from outside influence. Because people didn't want a standing army.

Wake up and figure out you've been duped.

I'm sorry but it wouldn't be election season again if Rasmussen wasn't putting out absurd polls favoring whoever the GOP politician du jour is. :D Can't wait for when they come out and show Itch McConnell's approval ratings also over 50%! :eek: ;)

Since you seem to be a great admirer I'm sure you know that Hitler was in fact shot at during the Beer Hall Putsch. Apparently the "bud nipping" you speak of is overly reliant on the armed citizens having good aim...

Yep. I can start my own religion tomorrow if I want, but I can't commit human sacrifice, or marry a bunch of underage wives as part of the doctrine, because those activities have not been deemed Constitutionally-protected, and are illegal in every state.

We already have gun laws on the books that have been upheld by the courts. The Second Amendment is not unlimited.

Any reasonable person agrees with this. I certainly don’t think the second amendment is unlimited.
