Re: POTUS 45.3 - Bowling Green Massacre Memorial Thread

Thomas F. Wilson for Trump.

I like that guy, but the whole point of the thing was the Politico report yesterday that Trump's view of Spicer was diminished after last Saturday because he was played by a woman.

And thusly a long series of loopholes and legal workarounds were constructed. What qualifies as a bank deposit, savings and checking accounts? Certificates of deposit can be classified as investments, which could be rolled over once they mature, which would reduce the deposit value at a bank. The same with money market accounts. Would investment accounts actually account against this 5% cap?

You see where I'm going with this. The financial industry is simple yet complex, and anyone trying to sell simple approaches are going to be met with glares of loathing by the Occupy crowds, along with anyone they can whip up on their sides.

Skip the details!!! That's where Dems start putting out the white papers. Tell the Occupy people we're going to force banks to slim down or break up do to the new deposit restrictions. Keeping complex issues simple is the key to electoral success, and leave the sausage making to the actual legislation. I'm not advocating coming up with simple solutions, I'm advocating campaign on a clear and concise end result.

How do you keep Occupy happy? Change the conversation by pointed out that no matter what measure you use, under this proposal these banks (call them out by name) will be forced to get smaller. End. Of. Story.

OK, then, Magaret Dumont.

yeah, that will help, but I don't think employment numbers are going to go down in Bar Harbor.

A lot of the production people are already traveling an hour each way to work, and there is no way most of them can afford to live on the island (unless they've been here decades). The lab has commuter buses from Bangor, Cherryfield, Franklin, Ellsworth

I'm happy to hear business is that good. We are ever, ever so lucky to have the lab and long may it stay.

I'm commuting to The Brothers Karamazov and just heard the following:

“The more stupid one is, the closer one is to reality. The more stupid one is, the clearer one is. Stupidity is brief and artless, while intelligence squirms and hides itself. Intelligence is unprincipled, but stupidity is honest and straightforward.”

Who the f-ck are these people? I have never met a professor who would build a McMansion. Well, maybe the B-School (because, let's be serious... that's a "professor" in the way that Trump has a "degree" from Wharton).

Professors live in charming little hobbit houses. Rich professors live in charming little hobbit houses with genuine imported Tuscan roof tile. The McMansion is the epitome of what the educated despise.

I'm not very familiar with the U of IA's various colleges, only relaying what I've seen and what my friend who works there tells me. He and his wife both have master's degrees, and they were describing the housing market in the area when they were going through the process of purchasing a home. My friend is also on the fire department, so he's become more familiar with the peculiarities of the different neighborhoods in his town. I even go a tour of the neighborhoods where the something like 75% of the houses were owned by school employees, mostly professors and high ranking school officials. It was a large sprawl of McMansions. East Coast professors and IA professors do not look to be one and the same in their demand for homes. Perhaps they're marrying locals who want those homes, I don't know.

Perhaps we should clarify what you mean by McMansion.

A professor wouldn't even marry somebody who wanted a McMansion. Too big an intelligence gap. ;)

Administrators, though, absolutely would. And in the East at least there are a lot of Professor+ATM marriages: the prof supplies the class and the ATM (doctor, lawyer) provides the cash. In those cases the prof basically has to do what the ATM says, until the divorce. So there might be a few McMansions in that crowd, too.

Even in Iowa city, $500,000 buys a lot more home than it does anywhere on the east coast.

Don't forget there's a crap ton of doctors living there, too. The UofI medical system is huge.

OK, then, Magaret Dumont.

I honestly think Kate McKinnon could do a good job at it.

But, Alec Baldwin has the inflection and tone perfect. It really reminds me of when Will Ferrell did W. The funny thing was W (finally?) embraced the send up. Even bringing some of Ferrell's inflection to his speeches (Ferrell did "Strategery" first).

The typical suburban sprawl, four bedroom, three bath, full basement, two story, vaulted ceiling entry, wasted living space, excessive floorplan, cookie cutter designed, bane of every architect homes that popped up in every goddammed new subdivision from the mid 90's until mid 2000's.

RIP education. Devos in after Pence breaks the tie.
The fact that Pence had to cast a vote is a good sign. Really.

Yeah, those are what I saw during the city tour my friend gave me. This was back in 2012, or maybe 2013.

Two-story ceilings are perhaps the dumbest thing mankind has invented. Impossible to clean and a waste of heating/cooling? I can't lose!

I hate cucumbers and would like to rid the world of them. So I'm probably a shoe-in to become Secretary of Cucumbers.

Ferrell's Dubya was gentle. Baldwin's Trump is mordant. I like it.
