"Politically incorrect" cuts both ways. That's what the knucks can't stand about Maher -- he violates all the norms we were taught as kids about not making fun of the dumb kids in public.

The right has no inkling that they have always been the major beneficiaries of political correctness until very recently. Media was targeted to the slowest kids in the class so we all had to wait for you to catch up. One reason college was so liberating was it was the place the dunces were no longer catered to -- it was sink or swim.

Well, media has fractured now, which means there are tons of outlets that show smart content to smart people, and the dummies can't keep up and have a sad. Also, people make jokes about the dummies now, so OHNOES SNOBBERY!!!111!

Suck it. We had to ride your short bus from the time of universal newspaper literacy to the invention of the internet. We had to go out of our way not to point out the obvious idiocy of your superstitions, delusions, and bigotries even as you brayed your derp from the rooftops.

Ehhh I'm not so sure this isn't the time to press. The memo has started to break up the GOP. Until the memo pretty much everyone was willing to at least remain silent and passively support Trump, but this was a step too far for some and now you are starting to see the cracks. Those who were willing to say nothing before aren't able to remain quiet and are calling the memo out for what it was. I say keep pushing on that, make them take a stand on one side or the other.

Don't hold out hope for the GOP. They are 100% complicit. Those speaking out are doing so only so they can say later that they did if it happens to blow up in their face.

The year to year change you mention is most likely related to benefit elections by you and the associated costs/prices changing. Benefit prices never go down so that'd explain your change.

The IRS has not yet finalized the tables for 2018. Look at February (could be March) statements to see any tax change impacts.

EDIT: I stand corrected (by my own quick look). The tables are out and must be implemented by Feb 15.

The tables might not be finalized, but I can assure you my tax withholdings changed with the first paycheck in February. My benefit costs changed in January, as would've been expected.

The GOP has had a bit of a schism for a while now. It's been the establishment GOP which aligns closely with the stereotypes that have been echoed here a number of times, vs. the somewhat Libertarian views which is what we've seen when looking at the T.E.A. Party, the Freedom Caucus, and Donald Trump himself. The State of the Union, as interpreted by many in the libertarian sect and sort of validated by the postings of QAnon, was a sort of calling for the libertarian sect to "come out of the closet" and take on the establishment. You are absolutely correct, though, that we have reached a new height in conflict, and the battle lines are being drawn. And it's not a binary war, either.

I edited my first post. The tables are out as of Jan 11. As to your company implementing them, YMMV. :)
