NY Times take on the solar panels tariffs. Personally I don't understand why we need a tariff? Who in this country needs a solar panel? We have coal.

The Trump administration imposed the tariffs in response to complaints by domestic manufacturers — Suniva and SolarWorld in the solar case and Whirlpool in the washing machine case — that competition from a surge of imports had hurt their businesses.

That's not limited to Trump; banks have been doing that dating back to even the Clinton days. And it's not limited to BoA either; KeyBank has these fees, Citizens has these fees, heck, the local bank where I grew up has been doing something like this since the late 90's. Is it any wonder why banks have been offering "Free Checking" accounts for at least 15 years to try to drive business?

I don't know if your game is attempting to deny everything that's happened historically and just pin everything on republican leadership to fulfill some goal of division, but those of us who actually remember our history are not going to let you get away with another attempt at dividing the country.

Actually, the memo's been released. At least a redacted form thereof, as some points weren't able to be declassified, but it does show that they're absolutely correct.

That is completely on Obama. Anybody with half a brain knows Itch McConnell puts party over country and has no issue colluding with Russia as long as it benefits Republicans. Can you picture any Gooper President holding back on informing the public if the Russians were benefiting the Democrats? Absurd and for all the good Obama did, and it was much, his inattention to stuff like this is astounding, and not in a good way.

This is way Cuomo is starting to look better and better. We need a nut cutter to run for Prez, not someone who approaches the Knuckledragger Party with kid gloves.

What would you do if you were a Democrat? Give them the Wall for DACA? I thought we already did that? Sounded to me like Trump rejected the trade when Chuck Schumer made the deal.

I'd call him out on this immediately. Fine, we'll give you the Wall for DACA. Deal. And then what will happen AGAIN is the right will pile on Chain Migration, and the Lottery System and as a Democrat I would say ok what do we get for those two? We did one for one. Now what do we get? And if they say nothing, I say **** em.

Yes I'd make that deal. Trump's wall is stupid but if that's the deal you have to make then so be it. Its a relatively minor concession although Dems should hold out for more than just the 800K Dreamers if that's what they're offering.

The key to me is chain migration and the lottery system. Which the GOP is trying to design to prevent all migration. If those are part of a 3-1 deal the answer is no. If it's just the wall for just DACA. Fine.

I'd point you to this video and declare again for the one thousandth time that the statue should be torn down and the United States should lock it's borders to everyone. We don't want anyone. We don't like anyone. And we don't care about anyone. Round the 12 million up and get them out. That's what the President wants. That's what the voters voted for and that's what DHS believes and is enforcing.

Well I'm in good position to refinance my mortgage at the moment so I was going to do it anyway....would just be with a different bank it this doesn't work out. I was a little fired up last night but I'm operating under the assumption now that they will make it right.

The issue for me isn't setting up a new system which is putting the cart before the horse. Its how do we deal with the 10-12M people already here. The answer to that question drives how we handle immigrants going forward.

So, for example, if you have a seasonal work visa for agricultural workers in place for those already here working the fields, that would dictate how you treat anybody else coming over. Instead of sneaking across the border they could apply for legal (temporary) status. I have to imagine that would encompass a significant portion of current illegals.

DACA is a somewhat separate issue in that its a set population that we're talking about (IIRC had to be here by 2007 and be under 18, so oldest DACA people are under 30 at this point). Even if you expanded that to people brought here pre-Trump, or up to when Obama extended protections (2012), its less than 2M of the 12M total.

Beyond that, again on a high level, how the country decides to handle older non-DREAMER illegals who've been here a while will determine a lot. If its a matter of having an employer sponsor you or being enrolled in college or having a college degree that gives a clearer sense of the requirements to be in status.

Who's sh !t out of luck in my opinion are people working for themselves as cleaners or construction for example. If you're working for cash on your own, there's going to be nobody to sponsor you. I'd also say that anybody with any sort of criminal record such as a DUI for example will most likely never find a way to be in status.
