Re: POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

Dude, we are talking 1.5 MILLION Americans without power. You find comedy in that?

Wow.

And making excuses about that I'm not the one who is getting the joke? What other kind of suffering can we joke about?

Either you are too dim-witted to realize that the joke was pointed at the 'Muricans who are unaware that PR is part of the US, or you are simply refusing to see the joke is pointed at the 'Muricans who are unaware that PR is part of the US, because of who posted the joke.

It is not pointed at PR whatsoever.

Good flipping god lighten the hell up. We make gallow humor jokes about stuff like this all the friggin time. (even during Katrina or Sandy) You people need to take the poles out of your asses and calm he F down. Someone quoting an old SNL bit isnt somehow disparaging what happened it is just making a joke.

Sorry guys but you sound like whiny college freshmen upset cause someone said something that hurt their feelings. You want to go after joe for being an insensitive X-tian I am all for it but Brent did zero wrong here.

They are going snowflake on the bit because they are equating your post to the people who actually think like your post. They dont get what the bit was when it was made and why it is relevant to what was being discussed.

They think you are being a Trumper, they dont realize you were mocking the Trumpers. (well the pre-Trumpers originally now the Trumpers)

Re: POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

And just so we can all be proud, half of Puerto Rico still without electricity.

Making America Great Again. All you Trump apologists should be ashamed.
USVI is in the same boat but isn't getting the publicity. (not that PR is either)

Population. It was exposed in El Nuevo Dia a few weeks ago. Besides, does it really matter? We are 3 months since the hurricane, and some still don't even have water. Had this happened on the US mainland, heads would be rolling in Washington.

The response from this administration has been pathetic. They should have had a fleet of helicopters down there helping set up a new grid, but the Army Corps response has been really weak. And the Army Corps is directly under the command of dump.
I have friends who are on the Islands. It is still bad- no running H2O or power for many.

And a small footnote says 55% of the households had power.

The Island had a poo poor infrastructure to begin with and one hopes the repair brings it up to 21st century standards. However, if any of the companies were also involved in the DC Metro "Safetrack", I seriously doubt it.

How much is the fault on Uncle Sam and how much is the fault of the local government(s)?
Why is this pertinent? These people are without power, water, and many without roofs. Do you really think asking this question about people in a mainland state would be on your radar? We are supposed to be a great nation. We don't behave like one anymore. If we had a real President who excelled in leadership instead of some self absorbed fool we would be trying to fix it instead of affix blame on the people without. He would be trying to remind people we help each other, we need to band together and support those in need. Instead we are reading about him playing golf and telling us how he is the greatest. Dam embarassing

Yes. Thank you. In 2018 let’s point fingers less and listen more.

I would agree with that, and that goes for ALL people. Disagree? Fine. Let's talk it out. Nothing else is working, so let's give the long-shot a chance.

Obama spent his entire time blaming Bush. Trump's actually doing stuff. Once again, it's "intellectual" morons that do something stupid and deflect blame.

I know that'll never happen with these wackos. They're so desperate for communism and will stop at nothing to achieve it because they have no real aspirations in life.

Bite me. When you have skin in the game, suffering sucks.

Why bring up a rather bad reference joke about people suffering like that? How the heck is that even funny?

Here's what's "funny"- it's pretty clear that this board, as well as the rest of the US grew tired of the bad news coming from Puerto Rico a month ago. Which was already a month longer than most US citizens suffer during a hurricane. There will be many US citizens without power for 6 months. It's nice that we can joke about it- not. It's not funny that people still have no clue that Puerto Rico is part of the US. It's not really funny that 1.5MILLION people don't have power. I'm not sure how you lighten that mood up. Ok- it's not that there is ethnic cleansing going on, so you can make fun of that, I suppose.

IMHO, most of you should have to endure suffering like that in your families. It will put a lot of perspective in what can and can not be made fun of. My family has been incredibly lucky. But I know many more who don't have power. Still.

Stop being keyboard jockey's. See what is really going on to our fellow citizens. It's hardly funny.

Considering the resources that are available, Puerto Rico does not have many heavy lift 'copters to rebuild the power infrastructure. The US government does.

And it's not as if US policy has done the island any favors, the economy sucks (going to your infrastructure point) very much because of how they are seen to the US. First, not being a state, they get ~ 1/2 the SS and Medicare taxes back that they pay. Second, not being a state- they face import taxes. Third, being Americans- they face export restrictions thanks to old shipping laws. So the core economy can be traced to both themselves and how the US treats them.

But when faced with rebuilding a system like they need, there's little any local state or municipality could have done, let alone Puerto Rico. The US government has the ability to help a LOT- but they do little, but like you complain that people there are complaining that they are suffering, still.

Re: POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

Prove it.

Simple: San Juan mayor goes on TV, with provisions behind her that are CLEARLY VISIBLE, and whines about how Trump isn't doing anything to help Puerto Rico. How about doing your job instead of whining about someone else's.

Re: POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

que?

dump can be putting more military resources there to rebuild the power system. But he lets independent power companies from New York and Florida do it.

The fact that you want to make such a dumb joke about it is odd. You forget that these are US citizens, some without power since Irma. How can anyone stand this treatment of fellow Americans?

It's called less spending if there's a private entity that can do the job. What the heck is wrong with that?

Welcome to the 21st century. Just like it was stated in Demolition Man, sarcasm no longer exists.
