POTUS 45.22 - The Genius of Donald Trump

Re: POTUS 45.22 - The Genius of Donald Trump

Serious question, wasn’t it known from Day 1 that the Russian file resulted from paid oppo research by the Dems? Why is it back in the headlines?

It resulted from paid oppo research from The Jeb Bush campaign. When Trumpy won the nomination, there was no need for them to keep on with it, so the organization offered it to this Democrat lawyer/operative. Any idiot in their right mind would accept this offer. Hell, this is similar to what Trumpy Jr. said he was getting from the Russians, and was only too happy to accept it.

And yes, we knew all this from day one.

Has it been confirmed that it was Bush? He was exactly who I was thinking yesterday.

Re: POTUS 45.22 - The Genius of Donald Trump

The story is that Hillary and the dems denied being involved when that obviously wasn't the case. They've lost a lot of credibility and whatever moral high ground they had before. I don't think they did anything illegal, but its very unsavory and just because this nonsense has become normal in recent times doesn't mean it should be. We need to get back to talking about the issues and not what someone might have said or did 30 years ago. I think it discourages a lot of decent people from running.

Yeah, this Dem lawyer was offered the chance to get the info, and keep it coming. But was the DNC and even Hillary herself even aware that this arrangement had been made? In any case, this was opponent opposition research, something every campaign engages in. If you want to claim that Hillary knew all about this arrangement and lied about it, then show your evidence. Otherwise, this is a great big nothingburger. There's even less here than with the Trump/Russia investigation, and you think that's just a huge waste of time.

Re: POTUS 45.22 - The Genius of Donald Trump

Remember when Trump railed against Wall Street and the big banks during the campaign? Yet his pet poodle Pence cast the deciding vote as Senate Republicans pushed through a bill making it harder for consumers to combine in class-action suits against to settle grievances against banks and other financial institutions. Just one of many anti-consumer actions by the "phony populist" Trump who talks--and tweets--the talk, but doesn't walk the walk for the middle class.

Just like the tax reform bill that gives the vast majority of benefits to the top 1%. Or "better health care at a fraction of the cost." At least the Looney Tunes characters finally realized when they've been suckered. Trump's supporters still blindly believe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjSdL3KVM88

It will be funny to watch Trump and his cronies work this because everything they say is triply true for them.

Somebody smart would let it go, so presumably he'll go balls deep into it because rules don't apply to him.

His followers will be funny, too -- decrying it in her and excusing it with him.

You had to have been an idiot to believe anyone running as an "R" would ever do anything to challenge the 1%. They are the mission statement of the Republican party. The rest of us are just their serfs.

So, just so were all square now. It's Trump or the Democrats. Which is the same choice we had in 2016 but a lot of people apparently didn't get the memo or are ashamed of how they did nothing to stop it.

And if the Dems had any balls they would make sure to remind the people of that every day. They wont because they fear huwting anyones feewings but from now til 2020 (especially the midterms) every vote by a GOPer that goes along with Trump means they are with Trump period. If Trump gets re-elected and the GOP holds Congress then the people need to know they chose stupidity over logic.

At some point though shouldn't people come to their own realization that they're getting reamed where the sun don't shine? I mean, you must be able to feel that, right? If I tell you to not to walk into traffic while texting, yet you insist on doing so, when does it become your fault for not listening after you get hit by a truck, and not my fault for not yelling loud enough?

Dems won't vote just because it's against Trump. They failed at that last time. The Senate was supposed to be in play along with the Presidency. Lost both. Dems have to fall in love. Republicans just need you to say you're against abortion and for guns and you'll put someone on the Supreme Court who thinks the same way.

No. That's what Hillary ran on at the end, and it didn't get her squat. No one's mind is gonna be changed by running against Trump, the man, the personality. His supporters don't care, that's why they like him. Anything that pizzes liberals offis just fine with them. That they've lost their healthcare? Tax breaks only go to the rich? US is falling behind the rest of the world and is a laughingstock? Don't care. Liberals are angry? AWESOME!!!!!! Keep it coming.

But there are people out there whose minds can be changed. They want, they need, their healthcare. They don't want to see more tax breaks going to the wealthy while they suffer. They like their clean air, their national parks, their Medicare and medicaid, their Social Security, the fact that they can get help if they lose their homes in a flood or wildfire. These are the things you need to appeal to people on, these are the messages you use to attack Trump and the Republicans on.

The Republicans have shown that they're fine with getting rid of all of these things, and not caring who it hurts as a result. The Democrats need to make their fight about this very fact.

They'll never know. All of their media keep up the drumbeat that it's them darn blacks and women and IM-ee-grents. And their pastors tell them it's Satan (via feminists, gays, and Secular Humanism).

Just like moderate Democrats will never know it's the 1% in their own party who are f-cking them.

Never underestimate the power of a solid cultural superstructure.

If the Dems run on issues they will lose. They will nominate some policy wonk who will bore the electorate into the ground. They cant make the same mistake with Trump they did with Dubya. They need a fighter and they need to make sure that people see how much worse off we are now than we were when the decision was made the first time.

The Dems need to stand up and get in the face of the voters and show they have a spine. Hillary barely did that. Hillary is the classic Dem "We should win because we are right and smart" and that is ridiculous.

We arent going to change any minds, we are going to wake up the losers who didnt vote because their candidate didnt win and they didnt like Hillary.

You need to drill that into people's heads if you don't want Trump to skate away with both Houses his entire time in office. I hope and pray the Democrats can take the House and or the Senate in 2018 cause I want to see what that Orange Baboon does when the other side has subpoena power and sets the legislative agenda.

Right, they need a coherent message on these things and need to stay on it. Handy's post above is on point as well.

They also need a plan to actually fight voter suppression in WI and other states that have enacted such laws. As of right now WI probably doesn't even have enough eligible dem voters to swing that state including college students who move around quite a bit and whose student ID doesn't fulfill the requirements needed to get a license in that state. Figure that problem out and you gain back likely enough votes in Milwaukee and Madison to swing it back in the other direction.

Here's a link on the voter suppression in WI: http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2017/10/voter-suppression-wisconsin-election-2016/

I didn't say we nominate a policy wonk to delve into details. We need fiery candidates at every level that can drill that message into people's heads. Cnaduidates who will take the fight to the Republicans. "You people want to keep this stuff, then you can't afford to vote for Republicans. We are your only option."

Re: POTUS 45.22 - The Genius of Donald Trump

The three musketeers could save the country.

This morning the House passed the budget over the objections of the high SALT states, explicitly with SALT and 401(k) on the table, so it comes down to these Senators and whether they'll stop the GOP from committing the third great tax theft for the 1% in the last forty years.

All that stands between the middle class being irreparably f-cked worse than Dubya and almost as bad as Reagan is those three guys. None of them have any reason to pay off the donor bribers any more -- this is our best hope of stopping the runaway plutocracy. We've seen from 1981 that one these cuts happen they will never be reversed.

The rich have been planning for this moment for decades. The future of the country and whether we remain remotely democratic will be decided in the next few days.
