POTUS 45.22 - The Genius of Donald Trump

Re: POTUS 45.22 - The Genius of Donald Trump

The three musketeers could save the country.

This morning the House passed the budget over the objections of the high SALT states, explicitly with SALT and 401(k) on the table, so it comes down to these Senators and whether they'll stop the GOP from committing the third great tax theft for the 1% in the last forty years.

All that stands between the middle class being irreparably f-cked worse than Dubya and almost as bad as Reagan is those three guys. None of them have any reason to pay off the donor bribers any more -- this is our best hope of stopping the runaway plutocracy. We've seen from 1981 that one these cuts happen they will never be reversed.

The rich have been planning for this moment for decades. The future of the country and whether we remain remotely democratic will be decided in the next few days.

I want what you are smoking. None of those guys are going to stop it they fully support it.

I don't think they're gonna vote against their own ideals merely out of spite though.

Re: POTUS 45.22 - The Genius of Donald Trump

The only one who might blink is Corker because he (claims that) doesn't want the budget to explode more.

Re: POTUS 45.22 - The Genius of Donald Trump

I can't see either a wholesale repeal of the income tax deduction or 401k reductions getting a majority of Goopers. Especially the 401k proposal is as idiotic politically as anything the Republicans have come up with in living memory. Not only are you making whoever votes for it walk the plank (remember there's plenty of GOP reps both sitting in Hillary won seats and sitting in states like NY, NJ, PA, and CA with high income taxes), but you're giving a gift to any Dem in a vulnerable seat much like the Medicaid cuts did during the ACA repeal debacle. The optics of taking away 401k's to give tax cuts to billionaires is atrocious. I don't even think the Fox Cable crowd would try to sell that one.

Instead of doing what they're doing they should be figuring out why they think we have the highest corporate tax rate on the globe while at the same time General Electric has been known to pay zero taxes in a year.

Something's fishy.

 ...it just passed the House today.

The 401k would be dumb to get rid of. I think the state tax deduction makes sense though. It's a net gain even if you lose a seat or two in the states you mention.

Here's what's so funny about that stupidity- one of the biggest reasons Wall Street has gotten a MASSIVE surge is all of the 401k's that are forced to buy stuff from them.

So by reducing the input to that, Wall Street is basically proposing to cut off a huge source of income just to reduce their taxes.

These guys are not exactly rocket scientists.

Step 2: privatize Social Security.

Re: POTUS 45.22 - The Genius of Donald Trump

You could make an argument that a private 401K type plan would be better for a lot of people than the current setup.

"You can drive a car with your feet if you want to; it don't mean it's a good ****ing idea!"

Sure, you can make the argument. Doesn't mean the argument is right. When people's retirement ride so much on the whims of what people put "value" on, it's far from a stable thing to do.

And it's not as if it actually helps the economy so much tying money up in stocks and bonds.

You don't seem to understand what insurance is, do you? Social Security was never about being an investment. It's very successful at what it does and it does it with less overheard than my 401K,

Is it insurance or a retirement plan? And what happens if my wife and I get killed by a drunk driver when we are getting close to retirement age? All that money was paid in for nothing. Everyone has a different situation and there are some who would be better off with a 401k type setup.
