POTUS 45.22 - The Genius of Donald Trump

Re: POTUS 45.22 - The Genius of Donald Trump

Ignoring the fact that Flaggy isn't grasping the width of this investigation, I got some questions for the more politically intuitive here:

PopohugeGreekname is pleading Guilty. Manafort and Gates are silent (as of this early breaking news. If they don't crack, and, as evidence has obviously shown, stay silent about who all was involved in their money laundering of Ukrainian cash, (and Popo admitting guilt is a big help) could there be enough connections to start tying closer Trump family members into the same money laundering scheme? Ie: Usay, Quday, and The Kush?

Also, I love me some RICO charges! Is this what the 20's and 30's felt like when they nabbed gangsters?

Who knows? But if they stay silent they're not going to get a very good deal. Which, basically means, Manafort and Gates lives are over.

Not guilty right off the bat doesn't rule out negotiating before trial for a lesser sentence. Also Flynn wasn't mentioned today. You almost have to assume that card has yet to be played.

Flynn has to be a huge card. It's amazing how these guys were all chanting lock her up during the Convention. Why haven't they? And why are they indicted? The President and the Republicans hold all the cards. How did this Justice Dept. get bamboozled into doing this nothingburger BS?

FWIW, Papadopoulos already plead guilty, that was Oct 5, it was just released today.

That pretty much admits that the meeting with the russians 1) really happened, 2) was really known russian agents, 3) spilled dirt that the dump folk didn't have, and 4) the dirt was what dump wanted.

This is the plea https://www.justice.gov/file/1007341/download of this https://www.justice.gov/file/1007346/download, if you are curious.

The fact that the deal came down 3.5 weeks ago could suggest that his singing skills have come in handy.

Republican tradition is to accuse others of doing what they already do.

Did... Did you even read the article?

Both donated $1000 to Bill Clinton's campaign in 1992. Oh my god. God forbid someone made a donation 25 years ago!

Robinson never once used her political stance to help her wayward son dodge a heroin possession/distribution charge.

And she once quintupled a fine for a Bill Clinton's security advisor's mishandling of secure content.

She also presided over Scooter Libby's way too obvious perjury.

The other judge just *agreed* with Trump's asking to continue to withhold "Hillary Benghazi Emails" just like they wanted!

You couldn't find two more fair and balanced judges towards Republicans if you paid them!

Kudos to not waiting for Infowars to tell you what to parrot. You're maturing.

Just what is already in the general public about Flynn is amazing. That guy is going to jail, for sure.

Much appreciated. Will take a look at home tonight.

Re: POTUS 45.22 - The Genius of Donald Trump

Because it's the de facto position of everything in this administration.

Press: What's the president's the favorite type of sandwich?
SH: The president likes a Philly cheese steak every now and again, but no others, really.
President (Two hours later): I really like a PB&J. I make the best PB&Js. The best! Where the jelly is made from raspberries only watered with natural spring water poured onto the plant over the freshly milked breast of a first time mother, and flecks of gold added to it for that real homegrown taste.

Or maybe because investigations usually finish once indictments are laid down. If nothing comes out of those, then they'll probably re-open it and look for something else, because how dare we have a non-insider in teh White House...
Indictments have been announced for two people. That doesn't mean that all investigations have concluded, just those two.

Re: POTUS 45.22 - The Genius of Donald Trump

I agree with increased regulation and agree with most of you all in principle, don't mistake me. But the real driver of this is using pain as a vital sign and the government reimbursing hospitals based on patient satisfaction.
My understanding is that doctors aren't the biggest issue, it's the distributors who ignored suspicious orders of millions of pills to small towns of like 400 people. And instead of being actually held in criminal contempt they basically just had to pay fines which is just part of the cost of doing business.

I don't see these guys doing 20 years for Chump. Manafort's 68 years old. That's pretty much a death sentence. Sure maybe he gets pardoned but I wouldn't count on Trump's word on that (which he can't give anyway or he really is looking at an obstruction of justice charge).

If I understand what the Feds accuse Manafort and Gates of doing is this:

Ukrainian government people wanted to lobby the U.S. government
Manafort agreed to do it, but didn't want to register as a lobbyist for them
He formed a bunch of shell companies here and abroad
The Ukrainians paid millions into those shell companies
Manafort arranged for two registered lobbying companies to serve as the on the record lobbyists
Manafort directed and controlled the lobbying efforts behind the scenes
The lobbyists were paid some money from the shell companies for their efforts and Manafort pocketed the rest
Manafort then had to launder his share of the money to make it usable to him here in the U.S. He did that by having the shell companies do a bunch of wire transfers to cover the cost of purchasing property and improving it. He then borrowed money against those properties to get the cash he needed.

The indictment lists all of the wire transactions that came from the shell companies to Manafort (or his home improvement people, etc...) It looks like only a couple of the wire transfers occurred in 2014, with the rest occurring between 2008 and 2013. That suggests that the Ukrainians must have paid Manafort's shell companies by at least those dates.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump were engaged in some sort of money laundering deal with the Russians, but I'm not sure how he'd fit into the Manafort transactions. The way the feds lay it out, it seems a pretty straightforward plan by Manafort to lobby for the Ukrainians, behind the scenes, and then not report any of the income. I assume he didn't report the income because not only does he then avoid paying taxes, but he also doesn't get exposed as their unregistered lobbyist. If, on the other hand, there were a half dozen wire transfers in 2016, I'd say someone should cover the back door of the White House to make sure no one slips out.

Thank you, thank you! I needed this Cliff Notes version!
