POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

Would like to see a rumor get started on this. Gun sales would go through the roof and there would be more people on the right side of the issue.

So you expect people to get going on this issue, but somehow we don't expect people to get going on an issue that is clearly against the First Amendment.

Yay.

Again, if you want people to stand up for your rights, you should bother to stand up for others. Just sayn.

That does include making sure the government does not use religion as a basis for anything. If you are making excuses that this isn't that, pull your head out of don's rear end.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

It's 100% true. As far as gun owners go, things really sucked during the Brady days. I know I don't want to get caught out again and I'm sure a lot of other gun owners feel the same way. I feel more confident than I did five years ago anti-gun stuff won't pass but who knows. Things go in cycles and the democrats will control everything again at some point.

You guys are suck suckers, it's not even funny.

All it takes is a rumor, profits are massive, and people have useless ammo sitting in their homes. Hilarious.

The stuff doesn't go bad, and in fact can go up significantly in value. There were people who made some serious money three or four years ago.

We're on the same side of the immigration issue. It definitely is concerning what has happened in the first 10 days. I hope the protests don't play into Trump's hands, and it wouldnt surprise me if they do.

To the I don't support Trump but he has the right to do so crowd, a reminder that not much progress has been made in a long while, due to people like you.

Dr. Martin Luther King said:
“I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to ‘order’ than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: ‘I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action.’”

I didn't know this before today. Or rather, I never really considered it.

Did you know that the Emancipation Proclamation was an EO?

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

The Office of Legal Counsel of the Justice Department had reviewed the order and signed off on its legality. But Ms. Yates and her staff lawyers believed that the department had to consider the intent of the order, which she said appeared intended to single out people based on religion.

“We have comments from the president about what this is supposed to do,” Ms Yates said in one meeting on Monday, according to two people involved in the discussions. She later added, “The intent was clear from the face of it.”

Mr. Trump had campaigned on a promise to single out Muslims for immigration restrictions. One of his advisers, Rudolph W. Giuliani, the former mayor of New York, said in an interview that Mr. Trump wanted a Muslim ban but needed “the right way to do it legally.” Mr. Trump said in a later interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network that Christian refugees would be given priority for entry visas to the United States.

I also would add to this assessment that the Obama administration had already implemented "extreme" vetting from these countries. This EO was nothing more than Trump needing to climax. Trump admin is using Obama as cover but the order was completely unnecessary and the intent is clear.

Ms. Yates has my undying admiration.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

Yeah, it wouldn't be good for anyone. I think eventually we'll reach a point where people are so stocked up there won't be as much of a reaction.

The implications of a run on guns is not as you imply. Those who are freaked out are the one's who are already obsessed with guns. That makes the guns bought just the 11th, 12th and 13th in a stockpile...and therefore, makes the country just as unsafe due to said 'collector' as it was before.

People with 13 guns are just getting started in my opinion. In all seriousness though, whether someone has 1, 10, or 100 guns there comes a point where people feel they have enough. I think a lot of people are closer to that point than they were five years ago.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

I'd rather this than him driving a suburban assault vehicle. With the guns he's mostly just likely to hurt himself.

i feel really bad for all those guys with a micro pen!s that are 'rolling coal', but I wish they could find some other way to cope that wasn't so bad for the environment.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

They're consistent, anyway.

Betsy DeVos, President Donald Trump's pick to be secretary of education, apparently lifted entire phrases and sentences from sources without attribution in her written responses to a questionnaire from the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.

...

DeVos also lifted sentences directly from Education Department materials and federal statutes without attributing them to their sources, as flagged by the Washington Post.

...

Another of Trump's appointees, Monica Crowley, faced difficulties when it came to light that she had plagiarized multiple sections of her dissertation for her Columbia University Ph.D. in international relations.
