POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

I'd rather be right.

But how has appeasement worked out for your people?

Who is saying appeasement. Good lord. Keep it up, we will lose in 4 years too. You arent Lincoln and this isnt the 13th Amendment. Just because you feel you are superior doesnt actually make yourself superior.

My people have lost no matter what they did and now they look like moron hypocrits half the time. But sure lets go down that road we can all be just like Netanyahu!

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

You realize that this type of conversation is why the Dems have issues in Middle America right? If you assume everyone who doesnt agree with you is a racist/sexist/homophobic idiot hellbent on destroying the country and who cant hold a candle to your intelligence all while shouting them down the second they dare say anything you are destined to lose. In fact you are being as dismissive and divisive as the people you rail against. How did that work in November?

And before we hear again how it was all Hillary's fault...whither those Dem Governors? What happened in the local elections? How long has the map been shifting Red on the local level? Scooby you should know this you have been saying it for months.

Except people that support the bathroom law are homophobes. you don't have to assume, you can just watch their actions.

Now, I agree with you that the Dems need to change their approach.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

There's more than just the Springsteen concerts, a whole list of performers refuse to play in NC until they change some of their laws. Corporations have been keeping close watch, refusing to open new locations there and instead started scouting other states. Those are real, steady jobs, not just event-type jobs.

It's an interesting experiment. I hope it continues, actually, cause I'd like it to collect enough data before it ends. Like Kansas I want them to experience the full brunt of what they've done. And if it works for them, great, they have their own little utopia. Or, it ends up like Kansas and they have to start bailing the boat out before it sinks.

I'm pretty sure the actions taken in 2016 by NC's legislature and signed into law by their governor is why there's a new governor this year. NC will move away from outwardly showing their bigotry in certain portions of their law, and slowly start to attract corporations again. They have a tax climate that's tough to beat for employers. It's just going to take time to make sure that this small change isn't just a wink and a nod by NC voters to try and fool them foreigners.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

Yes, I know. And it's not easy. And the reason it's not easy is they will vote for anyone with an R after their name. Democrats won't/don't do that. Never have. Democrats eat their young. Republicans nurture their misogynistic offspring and get them to the booth.

The only hope I have is that this time around people will learn and teach. Those of us who learned from Nader didn't teach the next generation very well. My kids are very knowledgeable in this area because I explained it to them.

Some will, most wont if I had to guess. We will know come the midterms although I believe it is mostly Dems up.

People would rather be stupid and vote against their interests than be talked down to and be in the right. It is the fatal flaw. Everyone assumes I like that I am saying this stuff but believe me there is no denying that people are stupid. Well you can rail against them and make them realize they are stupid or you can tell them what they want to hear and then just do whatever you are going to do anyways. It used to be both sides did the latter...now the Dems ride along on their high horse speaking truths and promising the world (and again obviously being right on most of the stuff) telling others how wrong they are. Well how does the average person deal with being wrong?

Trust me, I would love to slap them all across the face and wake them up but lots of people dont want to be woken up. Like Cypher in The Matrix they would rather stay asleep and enjoy the dream than live in reality. If the Dems ignore that truth they are destined to continue having issues.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

Drill, Baby, Drill!! House Joint Resolution 46 (HJ46) is being pushed through.

And what is the summary of this bill?

H.J.Res.46 - Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the final rule of the National Park Service relating to "General Provisions and Non-Federal Oil and Gas Rights".

Agreed. The Dems should let the states destroy themselves. As I said before sooner or later they will come running when things get out of control. It is easy to rail against FEMA until tornadoes destroy Mississippi and they need federal help. North Dakota sure doesnt seem adverse to national emergencies when the Red River overflows.

Right now the Dems are running against the wind. So stop. If the people dont want help, dont help them. If North Carolina wants to keep losing money they will keep their State Houses as is. (I believe it is a GOP Supermajority which is why the law will stay) If Wisconsin wans to destroy their economy and have jobs and teachers leave in droves that is their prerogative. Minnesota will reap the rewards.

These people want State's Rights...and they are also the ones suckling the most at the Federal Teet. Well, give them what they want. Elections have consequences. And you know what is truly sad, the people suffering will probably reward Democrats for doing it.

We have two choices.

Universalize the platform and stop talking about divisive issues that turn off rural voters...............................

Or

Do what the Republicans have done and talk about nothing else. This only works if you can build a base that will come out in droves and vote for you. You also have to deliver on your promises (like Trump is doing) and that means ramming **** down peoples throats.

So, choose one of the other. The problem with the Democrats is their too nice to do number two and their not smart enough, nor can they get enough campaign money to do number one. Screwed again.

:(

Seems like Federal Overreach to me...Dems should start shouting about States Rights.

Oh and liberal groups should buy ad time showing the after effects of drilling and talk about how the GOP wants to kill birds like the Bald Eagle. That stuff plays!

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

Trump didn't overhwhelm the voting booth. There is not a single vote that was cast for Trump that's coming the other direction. This myth of the "independent voter" and the supposed massive amounts of Trump voters that voted for Obama is fools gold.

They may reject but they won't vote Democratic.

You didn't read what I wrote, and nobody thinks anybody who voted for Obama voted for Trump.

The battles will be won with turnout, and the GOP turnout in 2018 is going to be horrible because the GOP is creating a smoking ruin all across this land.

The war will be won with demography, and if the GOP doesn't smarten up it will be over before it starts.

Voters want the environment destroyed. That's what they voted for. They also do not care if their drinking water is safe.

Take a look at the Trump supporters here. That's what sacrificing principles of decency for the sake of winning gets you. I know I'd be ashamed to be any one of them.

If you won't help, get out of the way. Move to a higher veranda so the blood doesn't get on your dock shoes.

This is the false narrative you people sold me on Trump. This won't happen. The GOP will always get their number. You want to beat them you have to beat their number. No smoking ruin will happen.

Their turnout will not change.

I hate to say it but...I agree 100%. that is why they need strong centralized leadership and fast.

Of all people, Grover Nordquist on Bill Maher said it best. If the Dems want to get back into power they need to start lower than the Presidential Election. They need to win back State Houses and Governorships. Once you do that you can universalize a platform because your brand is more recognizable. Right now each states Dem Party is unique.

I can only listen to a record skip so many times. You never listen, you just position yourself to spew the same old useless claptrap. And now when you finally have a fight you should be in you stay a poseur.

Sorry but you're done.

Re: POTUS 45.2 - Same arguments, different sides

Kepler,

What will be the excuse if the midterms dont go the way of the Dems? What about if Trump is re-elected? What precedent is there to say those two things wont happen?

In other news San Francisco is suing over the Sanctuary City funds and Mass is suing over the Immigration ban. Trump wasnt sued this much when he went bankrupt 3 times ;)

The state of Washington is suing him as well.
