It's win-win for everyone. The NFL gets knocked down a peg or the president does.

Yeah, I think this stuff is bad news for any sport that gets involved. Sports is already in decline(the demographics are shocking) and this is only going to hasten their downfall. In time every sport is more or less going to resemble what Nascar has gone through.

Probably true. Younger people are voting with their absence. For a hundred years the next generation seemed to want to listen/watch/attend live sporting events as much -- or more -- than the previous one. The first time I drove to the big city on my own for a game was like a rite of passage. Now? Meh. The notion that they are all watching on the device that has now become part of their hand 24/7 is also false. The "big game" just isn't as big a deal to an 18 year old in 2017 as it was in 1987 or 1957.

Someone should tell the players though it doesnt do anything...certainly doesnt help amirite?

So glad he clarified the empty seats at Rams and Chargers games are because those brave fans have taken a stand against kneeling.

I have friends who are boycotting the NFL because of the Kap thing, not because they are taking a knee but because the are being maligned for doing so.

Every time cities catch fire and rioting breaks out, you wonder why they can't peacefully protest. They do that, and you get upset. Brent, the only time you'll be happy is when they protest quietly in their own rooms with the lights off so you don't have to think about it. I'm sorry that's so upsetting for you.

How did you get what you got out of Hoven's post? Did I miss something or are you assuming because he said it is never ending he didn't want it to happen? What he says is true- It won't end. The POStUS fed the flames with gasoline and made standing and saluting/hand on the heart the next religion.

Read the #takeaknee thread. Lotsa vets in support, quite a few things about draft dodging people commenting on patriotism, and my personal favorite- the pic of tRump standing with his pouty lips out while everyone else has their hand on their heart.

You took wayyyyyyy too much out of that post.

That being said, I'm fine with peaceful protests. The MAJORITY of the protests in StL this last time sent a clear message, and I applauded those who disassociated with the VERY few that were vandalizing businesses.

My ONLY issue with the peaceful protests were the ones blocking roads and highways. In the latest StL incident, the police were okay with it. I disagree, but support that decision. Obviously the police decided that for the greater good, they'd allow the protesters to block the road.

I support the interlocking arms today. That was showing support for the CHOICE to kneel or not, whether or not the players themselves support kneeling. I thought the interlocking arms sent a POWERFUL message to the nation.

I know the apologists are going to launch a "why this is different" fusillade but I want one of them, just one of them, a really craven one like Hannity, to just bluff it out by saying "why would anyone get upset about this?" I want a full out "Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia." And then I want a poll where 85% of Trump supporters say it doesn't matter.
