POTUS 45.13 - CNN is still Fake News

Not the same thing. Democrats ARE NOT IN POWER.
Not according to Mitch McConnell.
McConnell said in a statement Tuesday that the five-week break will be shortened “to provide more time to complete action on important legislative items and process nominees that have been stalled by a lack of cooperation from our friends across the aisle.”
Who knew having a sweeping majority through Congress and rhe White House doesn't allow the controlling party to do as they please?

All those years of Democrat blaming, and now that they've been given all they wanted, they're still making excuses for not doing anything.

They've had a 5 on 3 since the puck was dropped and still haven't gotten a shot on goal, so they're blaming the trap. Sooner or later, they'll have to pull their president.

Re: POTUS 45.13 - CNN is still Fake News

You're focusing on the aid and comfort portion and ignoring that the aid and comfort must be to the government's enemies. There is legal precedent basically limiting who an enemy is to those who the United States has formally declared war against. Moreover, the aid and comfort subelement is generally not even applicable during peacetime. In short, legally speaking, helping Russia is not a treasonous act. As I said before, it could very well be (likely is) a violation of other criminal laws, but it is not treason.

No, Russia got don elected, as they wanted to. So that's aid #1. (BTW, apparently it is illegal for foreign nationals to supply information for campaigns- it's part of campaign finance)

#2- we know that don lifted sanctions on russia- so they helped, and then got something out of it.

#3- they also did a number on the public confidence of our government and the election system. That one is what bugs me the most.

You suggest that "aid and comfort" is not applicable during peacetime. But what about the whole period of the cold war, when there was not a war, except in words. Given that Russia's act can easily be determined as an act of war, given that it's attempt was more than likely there to destabilize the west as punitive damage for us not liking their recent moves- the legality of treason is, to me, a lot closer than you think. History has shown that you don't need a declared or shooting war to have treason.

It will be interesting to see where this goes.

whoever is running against Mitch should clearly point out the big obvious- you had a majority in both houses, you had the presidency, and you could do nothing. Nothing at all. What kind of leadership is that? You don't deserve to be a leader of our government when you can't lead from that kind of advantage. Even for an R to challenge him, I'd be all over that.

Re: POTUS 45.13 - CNN is still Fake News

I've heard multiple talking heads on TV use the term "nothing burger" to brush off the Donny Jr dirt. When did it become acceptable for an adult to say "nothing burger" in a professional context?

I knew. Without a super majority in the senate the party in power can be severely hamstrung by the minority. For example I believe there have been 48 confirmations to date and there have been 30 cloture motions required so far. When the minority chooses to filibuster a nomination, 16 senators can come together to invoke cloture, which limits the debate to 30 additional hours. Not including normal introduction time, filibuster time, etc. that is still 30 x 30 hours or 900 hours of additional debate so far. Under this situation it takes at least a week to get just 2 or 3 nominations passed. Dems have also left committee hearings to prevent a quorum being present for a vote. By contrast, President Obama had just 8 cloture motions required in his first 300+ confirmed nominations.

Having a majority in the senate means that over time, you eventually you can get your way. It does not allow you to do as you please at any pace you wish.

A reminder of what real political ethics look like:
Republican strategist Stuart Stevens also posted Sunday night on Twitter about the unusual nature of the Trump Jr. meeting. “When Gore campaign was sent Bush debate brief book, they called FBI. If foreign interests offer you info on former SOS, you call the FBI,” he wrote.
The Trumps are as ethically bankrupt as their casinos.

That claim is only partially true. According to Pew Research- http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tan...lready-faced-a-large-number-of-cloture-votes/

Comparing President Obama's first term's nominees to don's, you are correct. But looking at President Obama's second term, don still has 125 more nominees to go. And that ONLY counts for nominees, because don has yet to face a single cloture vote on any legislation. Something President Obama faced over 200 times.

It's also interesting to note how very few nominees have even been put up, so if you put a percentage of cloture votes per nominee, don would be abnormally high.

Still, he's only lost 4 of ALL of the nominees.

IMHO, mitch can do a better job. Instead of forcing Democrats, work with them, and you may find out they are willing to talk. What we see is mitch having to go to closed door, private sessions, and STILL not getting anything done. That's a pretty dark indicator of leadership.

All in all, while you have a partially factual post, it's also very misleading.

I'm gonna guess right after a bloated pumpkin was elected president

Do you honestly think that is a good comparison? Gore was part of the administration at the time! Complete opposite situation for Trump. I'd love to know how you're so sure Gore and his team never had a look at the playbook too.

look, I know it's hard to admit that you are an idiot for voting for Trump, but just stop.

It's not a trap, it's a left wing lock!

Right around the time we elected a *****-grabber president.

It will be interesting to see where this goes.

The supreme court decided over 200 years ago that the constitution says that Treason is only applicable when war is being levied. No war = no treason. No one has been convicted of treason in the US since WWII.

In fact right now you could be in Windsor aiding and abetting the Canadian's plot for a military invasion and annexation of Gross Pointe. Guess what? Not Treason. Until and unless the Canadians actually do invade. (This is essentially what Aaron Burr did, only Windsor was Mexico and Gross Pointe was parts of the Western US. He was found not guilty.)

Treason is a Capital Offense and while no one cares what is said on this board, I do think Senators and Congressmen should perhaps be a bit more careful about throwing the charge around casually as it suggests Don Jr. should face the death penalty. Although to be fair, perhaps that is what they think.

Re: POTUS 45.13 - CNN is still Fake News

So, has anyone figured out why it suddenly became ok to lie on your security clearance application? And, not only lie, but have the FBI epic fail figuring out you lied? I mean seriously this is ridiculous.

And Kushner still has clearance. How?

He didn't use a private email server?

One more thing- it's pretty fair to note the makup of the senate- in 2009, it was 59-41 for Democrats, so it only took one or two R's to change things. Now it's more like 52-48 Republicans, which means you have to convince far more D's to come over.
