Re: POTUS 45.13 - CNN is still Fake News

Speaking of fake news, we're crossing into new territory of audio, photographic, and video manipulation...

Computer Scientists Demonstrate The Potential For Faking Video
The researchers accomplished this feat not by cutting and pasting his body into different scenes — but by having a computer system called a neural network study hours and hours of video footage, to see how Obama's mouth moves. Computers could then manipulate his lips and contort them to have any word come out.

In this experiment, the researchers did not make up things for him to say. But they did manipulate his mouth to seamlessly cut out entire sentences from speeches he'd given on camera, and even to change the order of sentences.
Boy I can't wait for FOX News to get a hold of this technology...

Re: POTUS 45.13 - CNN is still Fake News

I just watched a video of a Trump official at an Appropriations Hearing for Indian Health Services and he is asked what the biggest obstacle they have is and he says "people" the Senator then asks if they have the money to do this and the guy dodges. (it should be noted the man testifying is a military man but I dont know his name or rank) He asks again, the guy tries and dodge again and the Senator keeps asking "did the budget increase or decrease?". You can see the official, he wants to answer but he wont. He tries and spin and dodge and the Senator keeps asking. After a long pause he tries again and the Senator goes nuts. This is the crap we are dealing with now...

Re: POTUS 45.13 - CNN is still Fake News

I'm not sure I understand how Obama can be called a good statesman. Sure, he might have been liked elsewhere but what good did it do our country? For me end product is much more important than whether someone is liked or not. His 'red line' speech and not intervening in the South China sea were major blunders.

Where did I claim Trumo was a great statesman? It's wonderful Obama was so beloved around the world, but what good did it do us? In my mind the only thing that counts is what sort of results they get for our country. Whether they're liked or not means absolutely nothing to me, and I really can't see where it ever helped Obama on any important issue.

I have a lot of respect for you for acknowledging the problem in the South China Sea. I sort of see Trump being in the same position with that as Obama was with Iraq. The horse has left the barn and there isn't much Trump can do unless he wants a major military conflict.
He kept us in the game, restored the respect we had before Bush/ his appointees behaved like wankers, he was able to engage in the effort of problem solving. I am undecided about the South China Sea thing. Not sure, no matter what was done, the outcome would be any different. Was listening to something about that the other day and no matter what admin is in none of the strategies have worked. The best analogy I can come up with is a tumor that is close to very delicate structures. you need to get rid of it but there are no good options that will guarantee not having a bad outcome.

I would be more worried about tDump using it to manipulate things.

Why is everyone lying all the time? I don't get it. Omission is lying. Plain and simple. You don't lie under oath. It's a ****ing crime.

Got us out of wars that 1) shouldn't have taken nearly that long and 2) may not have even needed us to start them. That was good.

I personally like that he has started de-escalating the standoff with Iraq. And while don bashed it while on the campaign trail, I'll give him credit for not killing it outright.

And it's nice for us to be in the Paris Climate accord- not because we will do it, but we would at least have been part of the conversation. That would have been good for businesses, but our great business leader didn't think so.

Yes, President Obama should not have said "red line" WRT Syria, but he did at least negotiate Syria getting rid of a big chunk of weapons.

The big areas that President Obama struggled was containing Russia (which don is trying to de-contain) and China. And I fear Russia more than China, given that at least China is trying to make a buck- I have no idea what vlad is trying to do by de-stabilizing the West.

Obviously, nobody wants to give credit for taking out OBL, nor the massive reduction in his organization. Mostly because ISIS took over that mantle.

But if Obama was bad, don is horrific, and quite terrifying in what he may do. I'm hoping that my fears will be similar to the gun fears that you made up with Obama, but we will see.

I see them as different threats. The scary thing with Russia is their nuclear arsenal. The days of them being able to invade us or something like that have long passed, but they still could do some serious damage to us. I think a lot of people view them as they were back in the day and don't understand just how far they have fallen. To a large degree I think we're better off trying to be closer to them. It makes me nervous that as Putin gets older he might try something crazy, but hopefully that won't be the case.

China on the other hand is the big threat long term. They have like five or six times the amount of people we do and are catching up technology wise. I'm not sure they would ever try to attack or invade the continental US, but they could conceivably shut us out of Asia and/or attack our allies over there. I agree with Leswp that there might not be any great solution with them.

You know that's been around for a few years now, yes?

Re: POTUS 45.13 - CNN is still Fake News

Obama was more conservative than W Bush but yeah he's too lefty.

Boy, there is just nothing to this Russia thing. Nothing.

On many subjects, Pres. Obama did take a more conservative approach than Pres. Bush. However, because this is all that matters to far too many people, Pres. Obama didn't push Christianity over all others, therefore he was a leftist liberal without any sort of moral compass to guide his way. And a Moooooslim.

I look at the 3 main things Bush did while in office and none of them are small "c" conservative.

NCLB? Nope.
War in Iraq? Nope.
Medicare Prescription Drugs Part "D"? Nope.

That's why it is clear to me that not only has the word conservative been redefined, but also the original meaning of the word has been forgotten and lost forever.

What I always loved was that Obama was both a MUSLIM and a follower of Reverend Wright's Church. So apparently he was a Socialist American Hating Unitarian or something because you dont see many Christian Muslims ;)

As they were saying their good-byes, President Trump turned to Brigitte Macron and gestured toward her body. "You know, you're in such good shape," he said.

Yeah, he's not a sexual predator. No wonder 53% of white women voted for him.

Re: POTUS 45.13 - CNN is still Fake News

Attempts to statistically quantify how liberal President Obama was in comparison to his peers and other presidents overall by Viewpoint, National Journal, DW Nominate, etc. based on voting record, all put him somewhere in a range from LBJ to on par with Jimmy Carter. (who would be ranked as the most liberal of the last 60 years, but it's a relatively small spread for all of them.) As compared to other Democrats, he ranks somewhere from just left of the center of the Democratic party as president, to well left of the party median as a Senator.

W is consistently placed as the furthest right president of the last 60 years, a tiny bit beyond Reagan. Ike and Nixon are placed solidly on the right, but are generally the presidents that would be closest to the center overall.

While all these statistical models very generally agree on this, individual opinions vary quite a lot. After he secured the Democratic Nomination, President Obama himself began disputing the idea that he was on the far left.

sure mookie is 7hrs ahead of east coast time and all, but he shared with all y'all 12hrs ago :p

There are like four overlapping threads where a lot of the politics can be posted. Cut us Midwesterners some slack when the sled dog team finally arrives with the news. :p Fancy elitist coastal residents with your electric lights and horseless carriages.

I'm sure I've been guilty of late/duplicate posting in these threads too. :o

What percentage of that 53 were married to white men? i"m guessing it's high and that most were voting their husbands' interests.
