POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

The loyalties which center upon number one are enormous. If he trips, he must be sustained. If he make mistakes, they must be covered. If he sleeps, he must not be wantonly disturbed. If he is no good, he must be pole-axed.
Winston Churchill

I'm giving tD until midterms. If he turns out to be no good, turn out the GOP and neuter him for the last 2 years.

However, wonder of wonders, it's working, then he should earn continuance.

Someday there could be a cure. We could hold a funding telethon and call it Flaggy's Kids.

Is there a way to find out if an image is doctored, or a way to ask Snopes to do the research? I know if it's part of a fake news site it probably is, but I want to find someway to prove it so my horrified and disgusted Facebook friend can relax.

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

Not sure if I'm up to date, but I was taught it is capitalized when used with a proper noun, as in UND President Mark Kennedy, or President DJ Trump. Otherwise it's not capitalized ... unless in reference to the President of the US.

See, I used to use the NYT as my reference on style. Then it occurred to me that those ******** don't use the Oxford comma. I was so done with them as a style guide.

(Note: They're actually still probably the go to source for style, grammar, and syntax. Though they have some weird quirks that differentiate them from "normal" style.)

I was going to say I assumed NYT just uses the AP style guide, but knowing them they probably created their own.

It matters for the solid reasons you state that we can't be distracted by the content of his lies. However, it is a very important thing that Trump and his administration will stand there and simply say 2 + 2 = 5.

All politicians have stretched the truth, chosen different angles to view facts from, been disingenuously selective in which facts they cite and which they ignore. But very few, and those never at this high a level, have just told bald faced lies and then gone nuclear on anyone fact-checking them. Even Fox and Hate Radio have only done this by implication, tweaking their coverage to insinuate falsehoods but rarely uttering demonstrably, obviously false statements. They probably wanted to, but they couldn't effectively because their lie would be exposed and undercut what they were trying to achieve with it. It was self-destructive to baldly lie.

Trump is completely different. The President of the United States is an actual, clinical pathological liar. And our politics is now so broken that the vast majority of people who voted for him either don't think it matters or deliberately ignore it, simply because they voted for him.

That has never happened before so overtly and totally. The only place it has been visible before is the conspiracy media. It's not that they try to hide or divert attention from the truth. It's that they simply define truth as whatever is needed in that particular instant for their advantage.

This is new. One political party has stopped acknowledging empirical reality. And the voters rewarded them for it. By the correspondence theory of truth, about 30% of our fellow citizens are either irrational or no longer acknowledge that anything is objectively true of false.

Good God: the Post-Structuralists won. This is what I always warned Dr. Mrs. would come of Derrida.

Exactly. I think Sic is missing the forest for the trees. No one cares about the specific topic he's lying about, except someone trying to score cheap political points like a Maher. It could be him saying he had the most-watched inauguration, that there are no Americans in Baghdad, or that there are five lights. The content of the lie is generally meaningless. It's the act of explicitly lying. Multiple times.

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

So, the President tweeted a photo out an hour ago of a beautiful panorama taken from the side of the inauguration stage showing the moment of swearing in and the crowd.

The photographer that assembled the panorama added a caption onto the photo: Swearing-In Ceremony of President Donald J. Trump - January 21st, 2017 - United States Capitol - Washington D.C.

The panorama, typo and all, will be lovingly hung in the press room for all of the White House Press Corps to mock... err... admire.

In fun news, who did Kellyann punch in the face three times at the inauguration ball?? Apparently she was defending Scott Baio...and here I thought he hit rock bottom at the convention

I hope it was someone important enough to get Snake Oil Barbie fired.

First, I've been wrong before and it'll happen again. It comes with having a pulse.
Next, I am truly surprised that Trump didn't use Keystone XL as leverage to get something from Canada.

Too many of Trump's business partners want the Keystone XL to happen, so he couldn't threaten Canada with its further delay.

Did I say partners? I mean advisors, yeah, that's it... advisors.

Exactly. I think Sic is missing the forest for the trees.

I'm tired of being told to look at one tree that is dead already, especially when we know it's a diversion. Tell me what's going on beyond the treeline, in the forest, already.

Today, so far, it's two pipelines, a bunch of car manufacturers, and some union reps. This, to me, is a hopeful sign because it's what is really happening.

Is it Kellyanne Conway decking someone? :D

More seriously, most doctored photos are pretty easy to pick out. Usually the scaling is off or the lighting is wrong.

With regards to this whole EPA thing, I saw this comment on Facebook:

The environment will be useless if keeps this up. Mexico will build a wall to keep us from going there.

Heh. And ::sob:: How the hell is this happening????
