POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

Can much be done to Trump without Congress' involvement?

Depends on what you mean. He cannot be removed from office without Congress but the Justice Department and Agencies like the FBI dont need Congressional Approval to look into illegal activities I dont believe. Not to mention the Press could do the work for them by going all Woodward and Bernstein on the bit...if they had the stones to do it that is.

I could be way off though...been a long time since I read up on this stuff.

Why would she be...he treated her like dirt before and now he is the leader of the free world! Christ the Obama's treat her with more respect in 1 minute than Trump has probably since they met.

Sad, isn't it?

Actually, at face value, that would be THE reason to increase the standing army/etc. Hunker down and basically tell anyone that is thinking of invading to give a second thought to that action.

That makes no sense. If you stop projecting your force globally and only worry about defending your own territory you need a much smaller army than what we currently have. We don't need 10 aircraft carriers. The most any other country has is 2 (India and Italy each have 2), and if we really only care about defending ourselves we don't even need any. We wouldn't need naval fleets all over the world, or armor in Europe. We wouldn't need troops in South Korea or Japan or the middle east.

We could cut our military budget in half and have more than enough to deter any invasion. Our military would still be significantly larger than any other nations military. We currently spend what the next 10 countries spend combined.

Of course we'd just sit around with our thumb up our *** while China takes over key shipping lanes and Russia expands westward.

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

At the top of President Donald Trump's agenda for his discussion with congressional leaders Monday night: relitigating the campaign, including saying "illegals" voting deprived him of a victory in the popular vote.

The claim of widespread voter fraud in the 2016 presidential election, which Trump argued in late November, has been widely debunked.

Two sources confirmed to NBC News that Trump spent about the first 10 minutes of his bipartisan meeting with congressional leaders at the White House talking about the campaign and about how 3 million to 5 million "illegals" voted in the election, causing him to lose the popular vote.

Really Trump? Really? This is what you're talking about right now? Really?

I worry with all these pieces being posted today that it's going to get him mad at her and he's going to do something to her. Either literally make her post that everything is great or keep her away....I don't know. These posts are making him seem like a real ****** canoe and I have a feeling he will blame her for that.

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

Folks,

Trump is damaged goods. Anything that "hurts the brand" he goes Pavlovian against. He can't help himself.

Worse?

Right now the media is damaged goods. They can't believe, despite their best efforts, the man they set up to knock down beat their preferred candidate. They gave him all the free PR during the campaign thinking he'd use it to self-immolate. Instead, he won. And now, like any good train wreck, all they can see is the damage (that they wrought).

Meanwhile, while the media is infatuated with crowd sizes, and voting tallies, that just don't matter any more because Mr. Trump is President Trump, they are failing to do their real job.

How do I know this?

What'd Trump do by Executive Order yesterday? Who'd he meet with? What foreign policy statements did he make?
What's on Trump's agenda today? What Orders does he plan to act on today?

How many of you honestly know those answers?

Instead, everyone knows he spent 10 minutes talking about "illegals voting" last night. Folks, sorry. That no longer matters. But it is an awesome distraction that keeps the media in a tizzy.

The media needs to get over their butthurt and get back to reporting on the business of the country that the President is doing while they examine photos from the Washington mall.

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

And while you and everyone else is focused on watching the dumpster fire to our right, let's take a look at what the Republicans are cramming through unwatched on our left... https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/browse

Congratulations aparch, you get it.

Trump is the magician's front hand. The media can't stop looking at it. But the real action is going on with the magician's other hand.

I know. Doesn't matter. He's going to do the Executive Orders whether I want him to or not. The news is all out there. People are getting what they voted for.

Interesting that he's doing all these executive orders when all they did for 8 years was whine about Obama doing them. He's not much of a change agent or shake up artist. He's just a corrupt idiot.

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

Hmmm... some are saying Comey will stay as FBI director... Trump getting in bed with the goblins? I think we can kiss indicting Hillary goodbye...

It does matter if you don't what he's done because the media is preoccupied in a "measuring contest" with Spicer over crowd sizes.

No, it doesn't. An informed populace voted him into office. They're going to get what they voted for. That's all that matters.

This is absurd. Perhaps the first sentence has some truth to it, but the reasoning is absurd.

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

No one would invade if we cut it in half. Or in thirds. It might not even be until tenths before some country gets a boneheaded idea.

Nobody's ever going to physically invade the US. The only non-zero chance of significant military action in US sovereign territory is Civil War II: Redneck Boogaloo.

All the media sees right now is "damaged Trump". They can't look away and see anything else.

What they should be seeing is "President Trump" and then doing what the media is supposed to do: watch the workings of Government.

But all they can do right now is, as I said, "measuring contests" with Trump et al (Spicer, Conway, Priebus).

I disagree. Alaska is sovereign US territory. There is a non-zero (yes, very small, but non-zero) chance of a "major power" (cough, Russia, cough China, cough cough) taking part of Alaska or NW Canada as a foothold and using that as a base to move south.

And yet, for the last eight years, they gave Obama a free pass.

It's not about policy. It's about the party.

Alaska hasn't been a territory since 1959; they're a state. ;) And perhaps they'll learn from when Japan tried to take a couple of the Aleutian islands during WWII.
