POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

I actually voted R in the first election I was 18- then promptly became a lifelong lib after living overseas at the age of 21.
Republicans under GW angered me. Republicans under Trump sicken me.

George W v Gore was the first presidential election I was old enough to vote in.

I considered myself and independent. I was not enrolled in a political party. I thought McCain was a decent and honorable man (I don't think too highly of him anymore), and growing up under the Clinton presidency I thought positively of Gore. I thought Bush was an idiot, and that it would make a terrible president and would be an embarrassment to the country. After he was elected it probably pushed me further left. I opposed the Iraq war, and basically said I'd never vote for a Republican after the disaster that was George W. I may have voted for Olympia Snowe once after that. McCain choosing Palin was the final nail in the coffin for the Republicans for me. I've voted for Independents: Angus King, Eliot Cutler (the first time he ran against LePage, the second time around there was a much stronger democrat) but I don't think I can ever vote for a Republican now. Especially now, after Donald Trump.

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

would you be so nonchalant about this if your neighbor, doctor, professor, or co-worker were suck overseas unable to return to their home, job, and family for months (and maybe longer)?

No, but I have my own fish to fry, like dealing with issues deriving from WOTUS and CPP.

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

Are you? Have you called anyone? Have you marched? Have you spoken out against anything? What have you done?

I'll hang up and listen.

As I said, how many of your Congressional representatives have you spoken with in the last month? Year?

have you spoken to yours about anything other than your fear of brown people, including President Obama?

NOW is the time to speak out, and you are silent. Actually you aren't silent, you have the nerve to say "oh, it's no big deal because I hated Obama for a bunch of stupid reasons. this is the same thing, except you guys are the ones upset"

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

EPA 'standard practice' called a 'gag order' by reporters

The story was:

The way reporters made it sound, the new administration had taken unprecedented steps to silence scientists at not just the EPA, but also the Department of the Interior, the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Health and Human Services.

But was it?

"I've lived through many transitions, and I don't think this is a story," one senior EPA official told the New York Times. "I don't think it's fair to call it a gag order. This is standard practice. And the move with regard to the grants, when a new administration comes in, you run things by them before you update the website." ...

... the USDA said a department-wide halt in communication isn't unusual for a transitioning administration.

The Examiner is slanted (way) Right, but they are correct in this:

Media have got to be more careful covering the Trump White House. If every story is handled like it's the worst thing since Watergate, and if reporters light their hair on fire for every new development, including the ones that are actually not that worrisome, readers will eventually tune it all out as white noise.

When readers do that, and they stop paying attention, those in power will have more room to do as they please, which is precisely what the Fourth Estate is supposed to guard against.

You mean my part American Indian teen-aged nieces?
Yeah, they scare the crap out of me ... every time they ask to borrow uncle's car. They ain't getting the keys to the Jag. :D

I talk to my Congressional delegation about issues that matter foremost in what I do and I'm doing for others. And yes, immigrants are a part of that, as well as WOTUS and CPP.

And I said no such thing. However, you expose your own thoughts when you project onto others like that.

I voted for Gore, McCain, Obama, and Clinton. I've only voted for the winner once.

The McCain vote is one of my biggest regrets knowing what I know about Palin now.

Are you gonna use the jag to run down protesters when ND legalizes it?
I kid, I kid.

you skipped Kerry/Bush

Gore, Kerry, Obama, Obama, Clinton for me, so I've got a losing record :(

how did you not know Palin was a disaster _before_ the election? I lost all respect I had for McCain after he unleashed that on us. No one outside of Alaska would have any idea who Sara Palin is now if it weren't for him.

Sorry. I meant Kerry instead of Gore. I was too young.

I'm 1 out of 4

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

Dick ****ing Cheney doesn't agree with this refugee executive order. This President is out of his ****ing mind and a ****ing moron.

But, hey, we voted in the first President to **** on the Statue of Liberty. The US is getting what they voted for.

W, W, McCain, Romney, Clinton for me. Only voted in one primary (Huntsman) and 08, I could have gone either way.

If I were to guess for you I would have guessed W, W, McCain, Obama, Clinton. *shrug*

ETA: take that for what it's worth.

For example, this immigration mess is just that: a mess. The prior guy threw the doors open and walked away (save for his actions with 48 hours left in his term, meaning "dry foot"). Everyone and anyone came in; we have no clue who-what-where for far too many.

Wrong.

Re: POTUS 45.1 - You take the high road and I'll take the low road

So you're ok just sitting back and crossing your fingers hoping it will all work out?

****, why not just start rounding up the Muslims like in The Siege? It will all work out right?

They would if they could...soon they just might and it will be cheered by 47% of the populace.
