Everything I hear is that a special prosecutor will be required now for the Trump Russia investigation. If the Trump administration doesn't do that we are going into Nixon territory.

Nixon's Library tweeted out a fun fact. Nixon never fired the head of the FBI.

I know it's bad, but this is why I hardly even bother continuing conversations with confessed Trump voters anymore. They typically come in two types:

1. They honestly thought he would end the gridlock and drain the swamp. Now, they're so $#$%#$! Stockholmed that they feebly try to defend his actions with nutbar rumors/fake news/BUT HER EMAILZ/T3H SOCIALISM
2. They completely agree with his racist/sexist/strongman ideology, and can't admit they're flawed individuals trapped in a 1950s America dream world where darkie stayed on his side of town, and wifey did what she was told

Why would my feelings be hurt?

I took exception to the idea that all Americans who are (generally) not Democrats are a cancer, worse then the world's two most murderous terrorist organizations, and should be eliminated.

I don't think that's the answer to the problem.

Acid bath? Those fake news articles are just run-of-the-mill Alt Reich bullsh*t now. Good analysis, but hardly shocking content.

Acid bath is what I do after skimming FreeRepublic for 30 minutes on my lunch hour, and even then the vitriolic nature of the posts often manages to rub off on me, as you've all been witness to. Those idjits are the real orcs of society.

Not a Trump supporter, but I did think he'd royally eff things up (in many ways). So far, I think he's done that. And it's rather scary.

Call it a mere inconvenience all you want, but foreign travel to the US is already down, and nonsensical security theater like this will just further accelerate that trend. It's also likely to cause some American citizens to think twice about traveling abroad, which old white racists love the idea of.

IINM this is also going to happen on European carriers. It's not just the WH or DHS. Presumably global intel has picked up some stuff that is seriously curling their shorties, because this has been building for a while now.

Isn't Rosenstein effectively in charge of any case having to do with Russia? Since Sessions has recused himself from that area. Rosenstien, who seems apoltical and was confirmed 96-4, was also Comey's boss and recommended Comey be fired.

America can no longer distinguish what is fake. Which we've joked about but still.

If Trump appoints a new head of the FBI who exactly do you think is going to be investigating him? The FBi is going to be balls deep into it with a person loyal to Trump (dont even pretend Trump wont appoint someone loyal...hell they will probably be tied to Russia themselves) in charge...do you think that is Kosher? It is a yes or no question...

(we will ignore the fact that Trump will try and fire Rosenstein too if he feels threatened...the man is certifiable)

Hillary Clinton on her best day couldnt pull the crap Trump is trying to pull...you would be crapping bricks right now if she was even hinted at doing any of this and you know it.

You're asking me to answer a hypothetical. What's the hurry? Trump could appoint the acting Director, Andrew McCabe. Although that would be a shocker. (So maybe he will?) I'll be happy to answer once someone is picked.

Didn't you say Comey was incompetent about 20 times over the last year?

That's JUSTIN Amash. Other than his consistent criticism of Trump, I don't like the guy's politics and (thank Cthulu) he's not my rep, but let's get it right. ;)

The "home office" of which I speak is not 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but in the 900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. That the FBI put out a memo "correcting" the director's statements was a most interesting development.

Again, from the AP:

On Tuesday, the FBI said in a two-page letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee that only "a small number" of the thousands of emails found on the laptop had been forwarded there while most had simply been backed up from electronic devices. Most of the email chains on the laptop containing classified information were not the result of forwarding, the FBI said.

If there's something real there, this just goaded anyone with the evidence to wheel it out.

Every Congressional Democrat in DC is getting up early tomorrow and praying for a manila envelope to be under their front welcome mat.
