POTUS 45.08: Suckers

Saying someone's mouth is a cock holster on broadcast television probably isn't a smart choice despite it being both hilarious and true. Slap them on the wrist and move on.

Eh I had to hear Donnie say ***** like a zillion times from that tape..where's my damage money

Re: POTUS 45.08: Suckers

I get it. It's stupid. It really is.

Plus what happened to taking responsibility for yourself and your own kids? If you're concerned they may hear something inappropriate, maybe you should prescreen it. ;)

Re: POTUS 45.08: Suckers

Side note, the French presidential candidate not named le pen had a massive hack tonight where his emails were released

Re: POTUS 45.08: Suckers

Who, other than the farthest left, are blaming Cheeto Benito for an FCC "investigation" into Colbert's not-that-funny comments which will be held up as protected? His comments weren't even "homophobic" - since when is 'cock-holster' a gay slur? And since when are righty outlets so offended by "homophobia"?

No, this is entirely a procedural excercise because enough conservatives were poutraged to report him.

This is entirely on triggered, butthurt, rightie snowflakes (two can play this game). After all the years that they either applauded, or were silent about racist/homophobic Obama jokes (you know - the Gay, Marxist, Kenyan, Halfrican, secret Muslim!), will someone please hand me the world's smallest violin?

Oh, they're definitely the reason for it, but it still doesn't mean stuff like this doesn't exist and isn't being eaten up by some on the left (wasn't trying to imply anyone here...most of us are smarter than that).

And make no mistake, if this was Obama, the same accusations would be made on the right.

Re: POTUS 45.08: Suckers

My understanding is that the FCC opens investigations after *all* complaints lodged. See: Superbowl shenanigans.

This.

Now, I thought the line was funny, even though probably pushing that limit. However, I think about what would happen if the right-wing version of Colbert called Hillary a rug-muncher/dyke/C U next Tuesday/etc.......

I think the reaction by the public would be much more severe. I could be wrong, I don't know.

Re: POTUS 45.08: Suckers

My only complaint about stuff like Colbert's monologue and a hundred other comedians currently is that it's simply lazy. There must be 10,000 things that one could write genuinely humorous and/or satirical pieces about this administration, but instead I very often just see a lot of name calling and insults hurled at Trump being substituted for actual comedy writing. I mean, I too could just put #Trumpsucks in twitter and in 10 minutes write an entire monologue from the comments that passes muster these days. Give me some substance, some thought, some wit, some cleverness, and I'm with you, but a lot of this stuff is just kind of a cheap and easy way to go and gets boring fast if you asked me. Which, of course, nobody did.

To some degree context matters. Some would be offended no matter, just like some on the left are already appalled by Colbert's "homophobia". I think most people would be fine as long as the context was there like it was for this joke. After a good meeting with Merkel would a rug muncher joke work, probably. If people just call her a Cu...for no reason, more would be offended. But I think you're way off about the backlash being more severe, it's the extremes that are the loudest and easily butthurt, and the extreme right is far larger than the extreme left. The rest of us just aren't so sensitive to make a big deal of it.

Colbert prefaced it all with saying that he was going with the lazy, the lowbrow, not high-end comedy, because the interviewer was too good for that. It was entirely within context. Whether or not it was funny is an entirely different question.

I don't think the line was homophobic, IMO. I agree the extremes are the loudest. I could see the Merkel/rug muncher joke working.

And your last line I 100% agree with.

Oh I know...usually they dont have the president doing it cause he had his feelings hurt though ;)

And it is hardly just the Right hating on Colbert about this...all the precious snowflakes and internet warriors on the Left are attacking him too.

What he said was not homophobic...it was sophomoric and lame but not homophobic.
