POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

He's been through worse and come out ahead dragging all of us behind him. He's had an amazing story.

Seriously. Trump is not fit to carry John Lewis' jock. He should stick to fighting in his own weight class: celebs and pageant queens.

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

Then I'm calling you out. You take exception every time someone says anything about Christianity that isn't gold plated, but you have no problem saying the exact same things about atheism.

Take your own medicine.

As stated, I take exception when there's an ideological agenda that's wrong due to facts. Saying religion is the cause of presidential assassination qualifies. Facts to the contrary?

Have me take my medicine - find a specific example that's not a response to someone else. There are thousands, this should be easy.

Yeah, I posted that the other day. Thanks for finding a link, I was trying to track one down. God help us, but will Mike Pence be working? As much of a bad guy I think he is, I have to believe he gets that this is a 24/7 job.

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

3) Can anybody tell me why Paul Ryan is considered an intellectual heavyweight by the political press?

By comparison with the national GOP, he is. He's a fortunate son with a Miami education who latched onto Rand and misunderstands Hayek, but he's heard of the latter which makes him Umberto F-cking Eco in comparison to the halfwits in the GOP power structure.

Pence is working with the pinwheel-eyed fanaticism of the True Believer. He won't rest until we're all under Jus canonicum seu commentaria absolutissima in quinque libros Decretalium.

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

Sounds about right...

On another note does it seem odd to anyone else that John Lewis is now the Right Wing pinata? I mean I get that Trump hates him cause Trump hates most black people (especially if they try and rent one of his properties) but I mean there seems to be a lot of GOPers not even hiding their contempt for the guy...

I mean I am sure we will hear that it has zero to do with race and that GOPers are not racist at all from our local defenders but something about all of this just doesnt smell right. (that could just be the urine though)

Do you have proof that he hates black people? Or are you just regurgitating the fake news narrative that anyone who disagrees with "the plan" is a racist?

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

We've been calling him out on it for ages, and he always twists and dodges, and usually spins it into further attacks on atheism "offering nothing of value or substance", or some such twaddle. You're arguing with a brick wall.

I'm sorry, but if you need or rely on any religion to define your morals or character as a person, and that people without such religion lack those morals and character, that says a lot more about you as a person than it does about those not believing in religion. And what it says isn't good.

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

How do you know that won't work better?

You've got three choices with charter schools:

1. Magnet schools that already exist under the public school system.
2. Fake diploma mills that rip off the state and fail their students.
3. Fundy madrassas.

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

Why do they even bother with hearings when none of these nominees will get turned away? Based on her hearings yesterday, she shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a public school. It was pretty evident. Has there ever been a nominee for a cabinet post that didn't get the job based on these types of hearings?

It's called checks and balances. Yes, it's sad that we are so polarized as a country (all part of the globalist plan), but there is still hope.

What about the kids screaming "Please, Sister, not the ruler!"?

If you're not doing wrong because of a man in the sky, you are on the same moral level as an animal.

D&s is two doors down on the right.

However, I fully support the Catholic school system and think they are awesome and am really glad I didn't have to go there although the uniforms, I will admit, are a kink. It's the only place left you can get a decent classical education unless you want to shell out 75k a year to go to a Tier I liberal arts college.

But nobody is suggesting we pay federal funds to the Fathers to rape little boys and the Sisters to get their students (boys and girls) off on discipline. The love of Christ should be enough.

Find John Oliver's Last Week Tonight on Charter Schools. Then get back to us.

I'll have to have a look when I get a chance. Charter schools aren't perfect, and there are some that are probably quite poor, but there has to be a better and more efficient setup than what we have now. Too much time and money is wasted on nonsense like testing and compliance. It would be nice if there was an online setup for kids who don't perform well in traditional schools too.

Which was never said. saying a presidential assassin was also a Christian doesn't mean being a Christian caused the assassination. Just like being an athiest didn't cause LHO to assassinate Kennedy. But you seem to have no issues in applying that assumption.

There do exist some charter schools that really are worth the title of schools. The problem is that there have been far too many shams put in place too, and parents have failed to do their due diligence before making their choices. My brother sent his daughter to a charter school that was tied to the Science Museum of Minnesota, focusing on grades 1-8. He and his wife researched and chose that school because of their STEM focus while also providing solid English, history, etc. courses needed for a well-rounded liberal arts education.

My niece went to that school through grade 6, until they moved to a new area. When she started in public schools at their new home, she was right in line with most other students on most subjects, ahead of them in English, surprisingly.

Testing and compliance came in with NCLB and George W. Bush. It was stupid then and it's stupid now.

I believe this is one thing that literally every single one of our posters agrees on. We should make it a plaque or something. E Pluribus Unum.
