POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

"Pentagon officially under new, improved management"

Wow, I never knew InfoWhores had such a hard-on for the military and war!

They do now that they control the government.

One of the funniest transformations will be the GUBMINT CONSPIRACY nutjob sites evolving overnight into fire-breathing pro-government authoritarian mouthpieces. It's almost as if all their "principled" opposition to statism and their warnings about government overreach was just a veil to hide their humdrum political partisanship.

But the best part is guys like Flag don't even realize they've changed. They follow panting behind the RWNJ media so slavishly they have always been at war with Eastasia. The guys who screech about 1984 and Animal Farm either never read, or failed to understand, them. The tyranny they have had a boner for has finally arrived with Cheeto Benito, and they drool and cheer for it.

Every Republican president since Reagan has done this.

Yes. George W. Bush would be the only one that applies too. George senior didn't have to cause the order was in place. The March on Saturday was meaningless to changing their mind on war on women policy.

I remember the left's "change" in 2009.

This is the moment of reckoning. Who reports the truth, and who is a party shill? Time will tell.

Down 4% is a dramatic expansion?

Glad to know you believe in alternative facts.

Not my words; not what I said.

I was commenting on the data you provided.
Both are down, but uniformed was down more (gross or percent). Just my observation.

Seems Trump's target is civilian workforce where the predecessor's numbers were more uniformed military. (Trump has said the freeze does not apply to uniformed military.)

No time needed. I've already got you chalked up as a party shill. :D

What is the point of this entire line of posts about the military numbers?

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

What happened?

The press didn't like his answer, they smelled blood, and went after him. He got defensive (rightly so in some cases, the CIA seating questions were kind of absurd, but he also handled it poorly). It was not good.

After Saturday he's not believable anyway. I don't understand how he'll be able to perform his duties much longer.

At least he didn't start rampaging about dipping dots, I guess

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

Trump is doing a hiring freeze (by Executive Order) for all Federal workers except uniformed military.

Good plan. Hiring freezes always help the economy and the morale of the workforce. If he's trying to **** off everyone that now works for him he's doing a ****ing fantastic job.

The Potemkin Presidency.

He's a buffoon and a menace, but my strongest feeling right now is sadness at how we have become a Soviet state. How long until the show trials begin?

All Press Secretaries get asked ridiculous questions...if they are even semi qualified for the job they dont act like dickwads ;)

Reminds me of the episode of the West Wing where Josh handles the morning briefing and they ask him about the President smoking, he gets caught lying and all hell breaks loose :D

Re: POTUS 45.0: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

And you seem to think it's a good thing.

Trump's predecessor downsized both the civilian and uniformed military Government employment rolls. (You provided the numbers.)

Isn't this just more of the same for at least the civilian portion?

What does any business do when revenues are not meeting budgets? They cut back. What's the biggest expense in most business budgets? Personnel. So that's where the cutting starts*. Trump's running like a CEO running a business. Is the problem in that he's publicly admitting it where his predecessor shrunk the government workforce but didn't shout it to the four winds?

*I lived this on the "got cut" end within the last year.

I wouldn't mind cutting some federal spending, but I'd think the bloated military is the place to start cutting, not expanding it while cutting elsewhere. Especially given all the promises to stop providing defense for other countries and whatnot. If we're withdrawing from the world, why increase the standing army?
