I hate to make excuses because it can be viewed as whining for losing. But according to my sources, the flu bug swept thru half the team this past weekend. At Cortland I witnessed a custodian literally scooping the pre-game meal off the bench. Not a pretty site to behold.

Must be going around in Potsdam. Colgate had a skeleton crew against Clarkson last night. So much so that they wanted to move the game to today.

Boy, some huge Bears fan I am.....I forgot to mention this, congrats to Sy Nutkevitch for winning the regular season scoring title. I am going to have investigate to see if a Bear has won it before. Steve Naughton perhaps?


EDIT: Ryan McCarthy won it as a sophomore...2004-05

Awesome, love the fact there will be two radio crews doing this game! If you guys want any extra insight on the Buff State team feel free to talk to our broadcasters as they'll be more than happy to help you out (I'll be around a bit but I'll be working on something for a class involving the game).

Wednesday’s quarterfinal will mark the first time Buffalo State and Potsdam have met in the SUNYAC post-season. Potsdam swept the regular-season series against the Bengals, winning 3-2 in Buffalo on Nov. 11, and then prevailed 5-1 in North Country on Feb. 3. The Bengals have never advanced to the conference semifinals. Their only playoff victory came in 2002 against Cortland, but the previous playoff format featured a two-game series, and the Red Dragons won Game 2 and advanced after a “mini-game”.

On the season, the two teams hosting quarterfinal games - Buffalo State (5-3-1) and Geneseo (8-5-0) - are a combined 13-8-1 (.614) at home. #5 Fredonia and #6 Potsdam have a combined winning percentage of .182 on the road this season. Blue Devils (2-6-2) and Bears (1-11-0).

Buffalo State All-time tournament record 1-7-0 -- W/L record in finals 0-0
Potsdam All-time tournament record 14-30-1 -- W/L record in finals 1-0-2

Cant be right...Potsdam tied Plattsburgh both nights for their lone SUNYAC title and won in the mini game.

Potsdam is the only team in SUNYAC Championship history to have won the SUNYAC tournament without winning a game in the championship series. The Bears and Plattsburgh tied on two consecutive nights to force a mini-game in the 1996 SUNYAC championship. With a victory in the mini-game — not an official NCAA game — Potsdam advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals.

Still wrong..Plattsburgh split in 2000-2001 causing a third sunday game....come on norm your letting me down here.

That series was placed in the Witness Protection Program by Potsdam after they lost 1-5 after winning 6-2 the night before (they also lost the first game 3-6).

So that said, their record would be:
W/L record in finals 2-2-2

With anger management over the summer (198 penalties for 568 minutes), I'm thinking the Bears of 12-13 will be out of hibernation.
