Potsdam Bears 2011-2012 season....

Re: Potsdam Bears 2011-2012 season....

It does state "Please note the records do not include mini-games that were held during the two-game format years.", but that doesn't (shouldn't) exclude the "regular" games.

I know, but it was still wrong, and she acknowledged that to me. It should be corrected now, but I haven't checked it.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2011-2012 season....

I wish I could get on here and find complaints with this past season. Allow me to take you on a stroll down memory lane. Last summer I was very concerned about the team that would be on the ice for obvious reasons.
Coach Bernard and Crowley worked their backsides off to produce a team that was in line for hosting a first round playoff game going into the final weekend of SUNYAC play. A very young team was placed on the ice but thru the efforts of everyone, a solid season was given. Am I satisfied? No, but is anyone completely satisfied unless their team wins it all? I tend to think not. However, I am proud of the effort and results shown this season.
Hopefully my voice has been heard. Thanks for reading.

Congrats to Bear Alum Sy Nutkevitch who had his first pro point on Friday night. Then he scored his first career goal today for the Texas Brahmas of the CHL. Great job Sy!

I think you have to actually graduate to be considered an alum...

Looks like Webster does agree with you:

: a person who has attended or has graduated from a particular school, college, or university

Though I would beg to differ with Webster - I feel that would be like trying to prevent the DI/DIII championship merger.

Huh? Webster is saying the same thing you said when you refuted me. Why would you want to differ with them now that I admitted you were right?

Re: Potsdam Bears 2011-2012 season....

We have seen the last days of Maxcy Hall as we know it...the revaming of the old barn will begin on Septmeber 12th which means the Bears emn's and womne's teams iwll be nomads next year. Practicing most liklely at Pine Street Arena, and playing games at SUNY Canton and Clarkson. Though I have heard a game at 1932 in Lakre Placid might be in the works and othe r community rinks in St. Lawrence County.

Does anyone have any fond memories at Old Maxcy......All I want is a piece of that god forsaken ladder I had to climb for eigths years going up inot the press box.

My first game broadcasted - NOV 2001 - Primelink consolation - Potdam beats Plattsburgh, Marlk Hathaway game winner, Venturelli steals show
My Last game broadcasted - FEB 2012 - Mike Foy OT Game Winner against Fredonia, a 4-3 win, on the 4th day of the month, scored by number 4, in the foruth period of the game.....creepy

Any other memories of Maxcy anyone?

I think I've only been to Maxcy two or three times but there have been some memorable moments including a Potsdam goalie decking Oswego's Matt Whitehead (forget the name of the Potsdam) goalie and getting thrown out for it. I believe that was the game that was broadcasted on Time Warner Sports too...Or SNY or something like that.

Also I remember broadcasting a game from a roped off section of the stands with Ryan Maloney because the "press box" was reserved for only the television guys.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2011-2012 season....

Rob Barnhardt was the goalie
Ah Rob Barnhardt. I don't think I have ever seen a goalie go completely off the rails in a game as quickly and as often as he used to. It seemed like as soon as Oswego scored a goal on him the game was over. He was one of the few goalies that let the crowd get in his head also. When he was on he was decent but like I said it didn't take much to get him off his game.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2011-2012 season....

I think taking (okay borrowing) the head of the Bear from inside the mens bathroom and running around the rink with it ranks up there....of course that was some near 20 years ago.
