Potsdam Bears 2011-2012 season....

Re: Potsdam Bears 2011-2012 season....

The problem is that his selfish attitude and uncoachable nature overshadow his ability. I think that not only do the Bears not need Hosmer but they have made bigger steps without him than they ever did when he was on the team. Many of those steps just don't show up on the scoresheet.
OK there you have it from what looks to be an insider...Thnks for the info...ps you definately dont need that on any team, and not on a young Potsdam team..

Re: Potsdam Bears 2011-2012 season....

It is approximately 140 miles from Potsdam to Middlebury, a trip very likely to take less then 3 1/2hours. Are any of the Potsdam faithful making the trip? If I didn't have to work, I would make the trip in the 1st. :(

Sorry fans, I have been wanting to post for sometime but I've been busy with everything else. That being said, HOW ABOUT THEM BEARS? Nice sweep by the Bears this weekend. I was extremely "Russell Jaslowed" up for this weekend after reading his article. Russell, my friend, don't count these boys out yet. Go work on your tan sir. :)

They certainly avenged their 9-1 loss to Fredonia back in November and nice repeat performance against Buffalo. Knock on wood, but Potsdam has yet to loose in OT this season (4 games)

My wife said the team probably hung an effigy of me in their locker room.

Just got the word From Both Geneseo and Brockport that there was request that Jaslow sit on the roof during the games this weekend for his prediccted two losses this past weekdend. Though it probably be fair that I would sit for one game since I predicted a split

That's why I am more than happy if Jaslow picks Plattsburgh to beat Oswego. :D

Re: Potsdam Bears 2011-2012 season....

A big one for the Bears tonight. Will Brockport have a bit of a hangover after beating Plattsburgh last night? By all accounts it was a game for the birds. The Bears need to have a better first period tonight if they want to host a first round playoff game. I know I will be glued to the radio tonight....Lets Go Bears!

Re: Potsdam Bears 2011-2012 season....

Just curious, the most likely scenario I see for the end of the regular season is Geneseo beating Morrisville to get up to 15 points, I also see Brockport beating Morrisville to get up to 14 points. If Potsdam splits the weekend and beats Cortland but losses to Oswego then they will be tied for 6th place with Brockport. they will both be at the bottom of the playoff standings with only one able to get in, what would the tiebreaker between these 2 teams be? Head-to-Head they split, with each winning over the other with a score of 5-3. Who gets in and whose season ends a game or 2 early?

Potsdam gets in with more conference wins.

I'll have all (most) scenarios in my column tomorrow.

Thank you Mr.Jaslow, you beat me to the punch. According to my sources if the Bears can get at least 3 points they will host a game next week. This is going to be an interesting weekend, I know I am looking forward to it. ;)

This is indeed a make-or-break weekend for Potsdam, if they lose both games and Brockport wins, they're out. Oswego May need those points Saturday if they lose to Plattsburgh, so both teams may have alot to lose. definitely an exciting season down to the end.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2011-2012 season....

Congrats to the team and coaching staff for making the playoffs. I would sincerely hope people don't use the the term "backed into the playoffs". This is not the case as you would not be giving enough credit to the team for their entire body of work all season long. They earned it plain and simple.
On a different note, how's this for irony? Ex Bear Todd Hosmer scored the game tying goal against Brockport and then assisted on the GW. Well, Buffalo State awaits on Wednesday. Go Bears!

+1

And bless the Bears; they are likely to have bed sores on their butts - travel to and from Cortland/Oswego, then travel to and from Buffalo- BUT - then hopefully a short drive to Plattsburgh on Saturday.

Here is hoping they aren't behind on their academics!!

Re: Potsdam Bears 2011-2012 season....

Norm thanks for your kind words. One thing, if Potsdam beats Buffalo on Weds., they would travel to Oswego since they would be the lowest remaining seed? Is that correct?

Ouch, that is correct, EVEN more traveling for them; they might break the school's travel budget!! And they will really need some seat cushions come Sunday.

But it does mean Geneseo or Fredonia will have to ride the bus to Plattsburgh.

Potsdam has pulled more than enough rabbits out of their hat over the years against many top teams, I never look forward to playing them (from that perspective) - but it usually is a great game.

Re: Potsdam Bears 2011-2012 season....

Even though they have beat Buffalo twice this season, its always tough to beat a team 3x in a season. I consider myself being "cautiously optismistic" about Weds. With a one game post season format anything can happen.
Oswego carried the play last night for better part of the game, however I think the Bears played their best period of the season last night in the 1st. I wish I could make the trip again to Buffalo, but this "work" thing is always getting in my way. Hahaha
