Mornin' Lodge. *HT from last night. -14 right now (-23 windchill). And I think the old man will do it one more time tonight in the Superb Owl.

Good Afternoon Lodge!

I went for my walk today in snow. Lots of snow. Way more snow than they said there would be. Still coming down.

Now I need to be a grown up about some things for work. Not in the mood for that

I might have to make myself some hot cocoa

Good morning Lodge. Had a quick appointment with a nurse practitioner to clean out my ears. Too much wax build up is a chronic thing I've dealt with for years and I used to go to the Health Center in the office - it was SO EASY. The last time I had it done was my last day in the office before we moved to WFH status. But since we're not in the office, I had to go back to the doctor's office this morning for an 8am appointment. So, yesterday morning I drove my car to the T garage so I wouldn't have to deal with digging out my car super early. On the way home, I put it back in the garage because we're supposed to get more snow tomorrow. Apparently not a lot but should be snowing all day and I want my spot plowed. I hate winter.

Afternoon, Lodge. Still butt-cold here. Had to go to the doc's office, as I haven't had my psoriasis meds in about 5 months. The company that issues them has never impressed me; supposed to receive a shot every 3 months. However, between the pandemic (these meds suppress the immune system a bit, making me higher risk), and I hadn't had symptoms until just last week, I hadn't checked in.

The clinic I go to is very good, and they said they were going to find out what the deal was, and had a dose for me today. I'll have to go back in May to get re-upped for medicine approval (legally have to do this once a year). PITA overall, and I'm glad I'm working with a good staff/doctors.

Oh look. It's snowing again.

We've been receiving snow the last few evenings, just an inch or less each time. Normally that wouldn't be an issue, but the temps have been too cold for any of the chemicals to help remove the ice after the plows scrape the roads. There were over 100 spinouts on the roads during yesterday's rush hour.

All the salt is now on my car, sorry about that, folks. It's too cold to get a car wash; either car washes are closed, or the doors will freeze shut by the time I get home.

Found out a worker walked out on the job last week. He made it seem like he was headed to the restroom...nope. Just left. Never came back. Don't tell me there aren't jobs. There are. There are jobs that people simply don't want (yes, we pay "a living wage" plus benefits/PTO/etc).

We've definitely had much worse cold snaps, but this one is especially irritating for reasons I can't identify. Maybe because the winter had been surprisingly mild so far.

I don't believe we hit below zero in Jan, which was very rare. It went from not bad to holy crap it's cold.

If someones desperate, they should be open to almost any decent paying job. Even if it sucks, you can do it for a little while.

That said, I'd find it difficult to go under a certain pay rate until i absolutely had no choices.

Even if you're desperate, if asked during an interview why you applied to the job, don't answer how the job is "maybe not my favorite thing".
That is the response I had from someone I interviewed today. *sigh* If anyone knows of someone looking for a Quality Engineer position in the Ann Arbor area, my company is hiring, and I'm really tired of trying to cover the QE job and my current job.
