Re: Poll: Rep Retirement Lodge #165: Spring Has Sprung!

Good morning Lodge. Last day in the office before heading to the 'burgh in the morning. Lots to do. My boss' boss just got back from Sochi last night and he brought us all stuffed official mascots. Mine is a creepy white bunny. I was thinking of bringing it with me. Still have some final packing to do tonight. Debating on bringing an umbrella. I may just throw it in the suitcase.

Did I mention I have another headache? This is getting tiresome.

There's several good custard places, but I am sure I sent you to my favorite - Kopps. Great custard and sandwiches. Today's flavors are Tiramisu and Rocky Road if you'd like to stop in. :p Tomorrow is one of my favorites - Maple Syrup and Pancakes.
Yes, that was it, huge cheeseburgers and Custard, yummy

Lack of sleep is a pretty good excuse for watching bad TV, but there are limits.

Couldn't you have found some quality programming like South Park instead?

I was watching Entourage, actually.:p Pitch Perfect comment was to Brent.

Heavy rain this morning! I just want to lay in be and listen to the storm.. That won't happen, though. Should be an interesting walk to class. Thank God for Footjoy Dryjoy clothing:)

Good morning Lodge.

Currently shopping online for some electronics. I'm looking into getting a second tv. Leaning towards a Samsung 55" 3D LCD. My research seems to indicate that its a pretty decent product. Anyone think otherwise?

A 3D TV? I still think its unnecessary at pointless. My real opinion is you need a reciever and speakers to go with.

Know nothing about the TV in general

Why would you need a receiver and speakers? Unless you are an audiophile, or trying to build some kind of insane home theater that type of stuff is a waste of money.

I will remember that the next time I hear a "boom" in 5.1

True about the 3D. I could care less about the feature but it seems like 3D is on nearly every model I am intersted in. Besides, I am looking at 2012 models which in most cases are $1,500 - $2,500 less than what they were a year ago. The Samsung I am looking at is $1,100. 55", 1080p, 3D, 6 3D glasses, Web enabled, Blue Ray 3D DVD plus some other stuff. Seems like a deal especially since I bought my 50" Plasma a few years ago for almost three times that price with half the bells and whistles.

I hear you... Good luck with it.

Plus, with North Korea ready to wipe us off the map I need to live it up while I have the chance.

True... but what can you watch in 10 minutes that'd be worthwhile

It depends upon what you're doing with the TV. If it's going to be part of a full entertainment system, I'm getting the 5.1 system to match. If it's just for watching some shows, but not concerned with the all encompassing experience, then I'm either getting just a soundbar, or I might even stick with the hollow sounding TV speakers.

Add to that, newer TVs have speakers that sound weaker than those from the tube era. I think stripping the mass from the TV has removed what little resonance chamber effect those speakers had available to them.

Yuck. Have to go to the dentist now. But I got a free breakfast this morning, because I was invited to a breakfast meeting with some potential business parters from Africa. I don't know what to think about regularly getting invited to these kind of business meetings now...that are way above my paygrade. I'm just a simple engineer!

Isn't it hard to hear the program with all the bells and whistles making noise? ;)

Re: Poll: Rep Retirement Lodge #165: Spring Has Sprung!

Also, booked a romantic weekend getaway for the girlfriend and me for a weekend in June. We're going up to the North Shore and staying at a resort that is right on the big lake.

Rainy day.. Hoping is stays above freezing until I'm home from the Hawks/Wild game tonight.

The forecast here for the next three days is so Minnesotan. It's just nuts.

Re: Poll: Rep Retirement Lodge #165: Spring Has Sprung!

Morning, Lodge-O.

Brent, got any more of those kittens in burlap sacks? I'd like to build a couch out of them and set it on fire

I've moved on to Acceptance now. Plus Louisville made some ridiculous, off-balance, thrown-up-as-you're-falling-down kind of shots, and if those are going in there's not much you can do.

That being said, when Burke blocked that fast break dunk attempt but got called for a foul, that was a shame. That's the best block you'll EVER see. Running at top speed, no contact AT ALL, close game near the end, and it's the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP? Sheesh, what a huge play he made. :o
