Anyone have any good resources for locations? I've tried out a few of the map aps and they were all terrible. Anyone found a good one that actually helps locate specific pokemon?

Seemed to finally find a pretty good charmander nest which is the pier in Hudson. Got 2 there last night in about 10 minutes. Missed a third since my ap crashed.

Thinking I'll take a pass on the Pokémon Go Plus. Tough to get, and from what I've seen catch rates are ridiculously low because you only get one shot with a regular Pokeball, then it runs away - no second chances if it breaks out.

The upside is that it can track distance for eggs/buddies with your phone locked, but I usually force quit all my apps when I'm done with them (saves memory/battery) and when I'm playing I have the app open anyway.

Only level 22 here, just 80 of the pokes found. Was just gonna buddy a pidgey to try to level up a bit before moving to better ones. I only just recently figured out how getting coins from defending gyms works, had zero until last week, now I've got 60, so probably missed out on a couple hundred coins

One odd thing I've noticed around here is that anytime I load up the ap at a Holiday gas station, it seems to be a magnificent spawn point. Almost every time at least 3 pop up instantly. Granted they are often pidgeys or weedles, but occasionally you get some good ones mixed in.

One odd thing I've noticed around here is that anytime I load up the ap at a Holiday gas station, it seems to be a magnificent spawn point. Almost every time at least 3 pop up instantly. Granted they are often pidgeys or weedles, but occasionally you get some good ones mixed in.

The spawn data is partially based off of the amount of cell usage recorded in that area. Try a populated outdoor shopping area or Target parking lot some time. You'll have to fight them off with a stick.

I've tried that with limited success. There definitely are areas better than others but usually it's in an area with a high number of stops with occasionally multiple lures nearby. I definitely like going to the location where I can hit 3 stops without even moving. Gas stations near me always seem to do better on a consistent basis.

Halloween special from Wednesday, October 26, through Tuesday, November 1. Double candy from catching/hatching/transferring, 4X (!) candy from walking your buddy, and it sounds like there will be increased appearance of Ghost type Pokémon.

Time to go for a walk, Mr. 95% IV Dragonair.

Can you do that in a locale that only receives 300 days of sunshine per year? Aren't you worried about the high risk for bad weather?

This year Denver mostly seems to have remembered that it's Denver and not Seattle, so yeah.

Wasn't able to play as much as I would have liked during the special but I did get about 8 dratini candies out of it so that's a plus.

Pokedex still sitting at 120. Within striking distance of adding about five more. Need to get lucky with an egg on Aerodactyl and Snorlax.

Halfway to level 28.

Daily bonuses coming. Stardust bonuses for catching at least one Pokémon daily, and a big bonus for 7 consecutive days.

Similar gear bonuses for spinning any Pokestop daily.

Level 28, walked my way to a Dragonite over Halloween. Next up will be dragging around Magikarp to get Gyarados.

Halfway to level 27, pokedex at 115. Local park has been a Squirtle nest. 2 hours there (over a couple days) with the candy bonus and I easily had a Blastoise.

Husband was able to walk himself to a Dragonite over Halloween. I've only caught 1 Dratini.

131 caught out of 142 catchable in the US. Missing Ivysaur, Venusaur, and Blastoise out of the starters, then mostly the ultra-rare ones that can't be evolved (Porygon, Chansey, etc.)

I caught my snorlax the old fashioned way two weeks in...

I wish they had kept the 0.75km rule for candy pickup.... going to be a long time to get my starter to venusaur status... my dratini is the next one to be the pet.

Got a pikachu while the double bonus was still active yesterday morning...

Edit: my powerhouse, right now is my 1400 vaporeon... not much but I'm at level 19... little annoying... the center of my work building has a 3 pokestop cluster and my desk doesn't touch a single one.

Update rolling out. Daily bonuses are live, gym prestige is rebalanced, and there's a brief anti-sniping window for you to put your Pokemon in a gym after it's defeated.

Also, the tracker has rolled out to the whole Bay Area, the Seattle area, and parts of Arizona.

Could Niantic be...listening?

If you take down a gym, there's now a short window where you are the only one who can put a new Pokémon in the gym. That way someone else standing there (or spoofing) can't steal the capture out from under you, which was a very common complaint.
