plattsburgh State ticket sales

Re: plattsburgh State ticket sales

I know you can buy tickets months in advance online at Oswego, and you can print them out at home too. I bought tickets for the Oswego/platty game 6 weeks in advance, and printed my tivket

That is how I got mine too, Great Service and the peace-of-mind of knowing that the efforts at time off, travel, etc are going to get you seat, not a chance at a standing room ticket. Someday, Brucie's health will get to the point where the prospect of standing for 2 or more hours doesn't sound all that exciting any more, MAYBE then he will be educated enough to start to get a clue- he is nothing more than an embarrassment.

Roger that. And here's another way of putting this debacle into perspective: Any Fredonia fan who wanted to attend Saturday's game got far better customer service in obtaining tickets than the Plattsburgh faithful did. Despite their long trip, they had tickets IN HAND, IN ADVANCE...Norm, if we get a game this week (as we should), please tell me the NCAA has a rule in place that mandates advanced ticket sales for everyone interested in going!

No, just that you must give 15% to the visiting team. No students tho so that should help. I have no issue waiting in lines. I've been doing it for 20+ years. 2am in Middlebury comes to mind....

Re: plattsburgh State ticket sales

1924 seats (and that INCLUDES the ~160? rail spots). 1200 season ticket holders. 50 seats for the away crowd. 2 sections (~100 seats) for the student section. You're down to 574, including rails (although many rails are season ticket spots). Now, if you were around the corner near the offices, and they're still doing the line the same way they did LAST time I stood in a line like that, it arches around quite a bit in the lobby before going around that corner, so I'm going to assume about 100 people in front of you. Everybody can purchase a max of 4 tickets. That's as much as 400 of your 574 tickets gone before you get there.

Welcome to the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse Box Office. ;)

It didn't arch around the lobby that night. I also don't mind standing in line. I just wish Plattsburgh would learn how to sell tickets. I think Oswego has it right by selling them over the phone. It definitely guarantees whether or not you get into the game before you travel so far. For all of the students that were there Saturday night, it was not as noisy as it use to be years ago. The atmosphere at Plattsburgh has changed...but that is a whole different thread!!!

I hear you. Well, maybe we'll get lucky and they'll put them out early this week? Time to go back to a season ticket I guess (if possible). If you can't beat 'em....(or in this case, make them see reason)

BTW, the standing for 2 hours I was referring to was to watch the game, I wasn't even allowing for waiting in line. Three of my eight season tickets are for people in their mid 70's, three with prostate cancer (one of which is 66 - the other 2 are among those in their mid 70's) and undergoing treatment and one with knee replacements, they are lucky, they have season tickets, but if they didn't there would be no way they risk a chance at standing room tickets. We are over a decade into the 21st century, yet Bruce can't find a realistic method of selling tickets?

Re: plattsburgh State ticket sales

while I don't agree with the way tickets are sold right now, I don't agree with the being able to call the box office to buy your tickets. Reason being, if tickets go on sale at say 3pm, I go stand in line at 1pm, and someone else just calls up at 3 and gets right through it's like they just cut the line and everyone that took the time to go get their tickets. The only way I would agree with calling to get tickets is if you were a visiting fan and they had a specific amount of tickets put aside just for the visiting fans. I do like the idea of the online tickets like Oswego and Norwich have, and I understand that it is an expensive investment, but I think in the long run it would be very much worth it. another idea, for those of us who are season ticket holders, instead of doing a ticket for each game, why not do something like a card that can be scanned or something laminated that can be hole punched like they did about 6 years ago?? that would save money and a few trees! but what do I know, I'm just a fan without a religious studies degree......

You have a very good point, but it is handled by simply cutting off phone sales a couple hours before the box office opens - state it in advance and it shouldn't be a problem. Also, the BEST way, IMO, is to offer BOTH internet sales and phone sales (for those without internet service - and there are a LOT of areas within the Plattsburgh area limited to only dial-up - not a practical way to do anything online today

Re: plattsburgh State ticket sales

While there are some methods that could be used, pre sale before the game is better then a phone line that is busy all the time. I'd much rather sit in line early then not get through the telephone like we've had to deal with before. I agree its tough for old people to stand for so long, however if you get a SRO ticket and there is an empty seat (which there always is) you can always sit. Try being in my shoes 6 hours away with a family of 5, sometimes 7 or 8 coming up for games. Try getting 8 seats together now days. Standing in line or on the phone its nearly impossible. Sure you could have pre-sale tickets, but the last time they did that the phone lines were busy and by the time you got through they were sold out. Selling tickets on game day gives us out of town'ers a chance to get there and get in line.....and for those who want to question those who only show for big games being "real fans".....I'll challenge just about anyone outside of Wally, Birds, Campbells, and Loudhorns whos put more miles on the road for hockey games.

Its been what 3 years now, we have to realize that the Stafford is not going to be growing anytime soon unless someone wants to donate the $$ to build a new rink....Sundberg Sport Complex...with the Ducky Press Box and Mad Dog annoucner booth.....yes I would still like to see the "upper bowl" added, but I just cant for see that happening anytime soon. If the students continue to support and grow, they may just have to however.

IMO, the desire to sell season tickets is the ONLY possible a want-to-be, but actually insufficiently qualified (or motivationally challenged) Brucey could think it makes sense to stick with an arcane ticket policy. Note, I have NO vested interest in the pre-sale of tickets - I have been and will continue to be a season ticket holder - but as an alumnus, I am embarrassed by the situation.

Re: plattsburgh State ticket sales

Like I have said before I don't mind waiting inline but what I do mind is being told I can not get season tickets because somebody that lives hours away was able to get them before I could and they are keeping them only to insure that they do not have to wait in a long line for Oswego. Season ticket holders should not get all the tickets all at once and have to go each week to pick up tickets and show ID and when they want to sell them because they can not go then that should be taken into account when it comes to re up the season tickets. For instance somebody who works weeknights cant go to a Monday, Tuesday or Friday game they would still be able to go to Saturday game would be OK to get re up'd but if they sell all their tickets except for a certain game would have to wait to see if new customers come in to buy season tickets and if they are sold out well try again next year. I know it sucks for guys like Loudhorns and Norm and others who I know are at almost if not every game but until a better way comes along it can weed out those who misuse the privilege of being a season ticket holder.

the idea of scanning a card or pass (like I believe they do in Norwich) would show exactly who was in attendance and who wasn't. I would really like to see Plattsburgh "pony up" and spend some money on a system that will make it easier for not only season ticket holders, but the die hard fan that can't afford season tickets or the casual fan that wants to take the family to a game now and then.... but something like that would also make it easier for visiting fans, I would love to see 50-100 visiting fans at every game because it just adds to the atmosphere at the rink.

Bare in mind, that the "privilege of being a season ticket holder" comes at a premium over the box office ticket price, this year they were $120 (helping to inspire Brucey to want to sell Season Tickets versus box office tickets). I do think it would be great if season ticket holders could donate tickets they don't plan on using for resale by any of the many charities supported by the team.

most pro sports teams have a "buy back" option for season ticket holders. the club will buy back and resell the tickets that you don't plan on using. the team will buy your ticket back from you at face value and sell it to someone else who wants to see that particular game.

Re: plattsburgh State ticket sales

Norwich does have the card system and it works great as season tickets holders can just use their card or make up tickets from them in the computer and e-mail them to freinds or fax them to freinds as these tickets have the bar code on them.Plus when it comes to play-off time you fill out the credit card info on the sheet of paper in the center of last weekends program and hand it in to the office and Bing go you are set for Wesnesday nights game with the same card as the hole season. If not then they sell out your tickets tomorrow morning. This is great and works the best. They scan your card and you walk in. Thank-you Charlie Crosby for making this work so well.:D:D:D

Re: plattsburgh State ticket sales

To follow up on my post. The card I am using now is the same one I had last year and the same one for next year and beyond. But to you other DIV 3 season ticket holders Norwich is the highest cost per seat per game in the land at 10 dollars a game. Then agian that is cheaper then going to the movies.:p:p

Re: plattsburgh State ticket sales

maybe they could have a season ticket holder window, where you can pick up your season tickets before each game, and if they aren't picked up OR printed off the internet by 6:30, then they release the tickets to be sold, that would make it more likely that the place would really be packed.

Glad you like it and it works for you. I'll make sure our marketing manager and ticket sales manager Adam Van Vught knows about how pleased you are with NU's season ticket policies. :)
