One game does not a season make
You are correct, but from what I saw last night, forget the NCAA's not sure Plattsburgh is even a top 4 SUNYAC team. It was kind of scary at times tho because they did show flashes of what we thought we would see, but for as much "speed" as this team was suppose to have they were beat to the majority of the pucks, didn't work hard in the corners, maybe cycled the puck 4 times all night, goaltending was beyond weak, defense...what defense, and undiciplined hockey (Sliasis hit, Corry penalty late) is not Cardinal Hockey. The one positive note, what a lead Dylan Clarke is going to be this year. The bad news is, they lost their first game. The good news is, it was their first game. They will need to rebound tonight against Brockport. Tonight will show us more what this team is made of then last night.
As far as goaltending goes, Leis was horrid...period. Sure the defense didn't help, but 2 of those 3 goals shouldn't have gone in period. You will have giveaways, but your goaltender (on a team thats suppose to be a national contender) needs to make some of those saves, period. Williams did a little better, but after he decided to skate around like a chicken with his head cut off and get caught way out of posistion which led to the goal, Bob had enough. Foley was beat by a rebound goal which was never picked up by a Plattsburgh forward (see Dockings ejection).
Whats with the Genseo zamboni driver? I've never seen someone miss so many spots and leave so much ice chunks on the ice. Wow. The crowd was absolutley dead at the drop of the puck. Maybe 300-400 fans, but as expected it filled in nicely.
Great win for Geneseo, they are legit. Very hard working team. They capitalized on the Plattsburgh mistakes and never stopped working. Gershon wasn't highly tested. A lot of easy saves. Tho his temper tantrum was classic. Reminded me of the Walker days. Literally throwing his stick on the ground and jumping up and down in the air like a 4 year old.
