They take that picture in the 2 weeks of summer between snow storms? :D

You know the old saw

Q: "What do you guys do in the summer in the North anyway?"
A: "If it comes on the weekend we go to the beach!"

I believe they call the editing technique "cropping".....I'm pretty sure she's never set foot in Plattsburgh (or has she ever heard of it!!!)

Aw, it's actually been a really nice summer. Warmer than usual (for Plattsburgh) for longer than usual (for Plattsburgh), with none of the "monsoon season"-style constant showers of the past two years. And although when it has rained, it's done so pretty furiously, the citizenry has taken it well:

For those of you familiar with Plattsburgh, that's Broad Street just before it forks with Rugar (where most of the campus lies).

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

haha now thats funny!

I went to North Country in Saranac before going to Elmira. So Ive spent plenty of time in Plattsburgh. I live in Philadelphia now so once in a while I forget how tough the winters are up there. Dont get me wrong, we got 2 snow storms in 4 days that each dropped 2 feet of snow. So we get it too. But the North Country is its own world. Hockey heaven at P'Burgh!

I coached this kid in Little League about 6 years ago...he is quite the character (in a good way!)

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

Can someone tell me when Eric Satim is going to swim accross Lake Champlain and the link to the fundraising site? I am very impress by both the physical challange of swimming accross the lake and raising funds for a non profit. He must be quite a young man beside being one of the best hockey players in the East.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

This likely will impact the future of the PrimeLink Shootout, though the potential to create a lasting legacy also exists.

Champlain Telephone Employee Stock Ownership Plan approved (Excerpt from the Plattsburgh Press-Republican 9-5-10)

...
The plan calls for company employees to acquire Trahan's 50.07-percent controlling interest.

A preliminary valuation of Trahan's 37,480 shares of common stock by Empire Valuation Consultants and ESOP Economics arrived at an estimated value of $4.225 million, although that figure could be higher or lower when the deal is actually finalized.

Trahan said $1,334,190 of that compensation is the company's acquisition of responsibility for the personal loan he took out with the Rural Telephone Finance Cooperative when he acquired the company in 2000.

The company will also issue him a promissory note of $2,890,810, by which it will make quarterly payments to Trahan during the next 10 years at 5-percent interest.

...

Trahan said the PrimeLink side of the company is certified to provide long-distance telephone and Internet service to the entire 518 and 315 area codes. That leaves it a lot of room for future growth.

It continues to grow by leaps and bounds, he said, and is projected to continue to do so.

...
Trahan said he will stay on for six years. That includes two years to enable him to retire at 65 and four years as a consultant to help management move toward the vision he's been working toward the last 15 years.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

Looks like Trahan is staying on for quite a while and, since he was one of the architects of the Shootout, we can only hope the new "management" team will continue both his commitment to the Shootout as well as his work in the community (i.e. scholarship foundation, etc.) If MacConnell remains as pres. you would still have 2 PSU alums with lots to say about how the money is spent. Looks more like Trent is arranging for a sustainable structure for the company in the future as well as setting himself up for a lucrative retirement..at least enough to take care of himself and his ponies!

I'm just curious; last time I was at Dukes, it appeared to only hold about 20-30 people. If the whole team and the band members are there, where will the attendees sit?

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

I got fired up today in traffic in downtown Potsdam. I had to sit behind a Plattsburgh team bus. The big Red Cardinal staring me down as I sat there wearing my Bears hockey hat.:)
Quick question, how many of those busses does Plattsburgh have? It was a sharp looking bus as well.

Plattsburgh has zero. But the Lamoille bus company has a Plattsburgh, Norwich, St. Mikes and UVM version.
