Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

Do you have in information about the new goalie -- Foley -- coming in? I can't imagine the Cards will be carrying 4 goalies hence someone's not coming back. If its true that Williams is starting the first regular season game, then either Leis or Rossy isn't returning. I presume I know the answer but...

And what's Foley's role expected to be? Backup or is he going to get a chance to compete for the number one job?

Loudhorns is correct, Rossy is looking for a new home and a chance to play. As of a couple of weeks ago, Raph told me he had a couple of options at the D3 level.

Foley will get his chance to prove he deserves playing time. (every player does) Williams and Leis better come back next season ready to go. The #1 job is still up for grabs in my opinion. Wasn't Norwich's Klinger a walk-on/3rd goalie at one point? Anything can happen. Its up to the players.

Any chance we could see a 3-man rotation this season

Kaliscik left mid year. there were 3 seniors on the team this year, Willock, Breslin and Farrow. not sure who might not be coming back other than the 3 seniors and Rossy.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

Not sure if I or anyone else posted the team awards yet.

Team MVP: Eric Satim
Chip Grabowski Award: Eric Satim
Top Rookie: Jared Docking
Most Improved: Matt Bessing
Scholar-Athlete Award: Dan Sliasis

FYI, the Chip Grabowski Award is given annually to the Cardinal player who most typifies the Plattsburgh State Hockey, demonstrating supreme sportsmanship, leadership, hard work and dedication.

If Emery can bring someone in who will improve the team, he will.

As for the D situation, Plattsburgh's D suffered a lot of illness and injury last season and was short staffed for parts of the season. My guess is that coach doesn't want a repeat of that senario.

The team's biggest need is SCORING. Dylan Clarke needs some help!

What about Satim?

Clarke wasn't impressive to me this season. Granted he had a lot more pressure on his shoulders with all the graduation and Satim going down for awhile...But still.

While I am certainly not a fan of Msgr. Bruce, SUNY Plattsburgh's president John Ettling certainly scored some points with me in this video. Kudo's to him - it is nice to see someone in administration willing to go the distance.

I've noticed Plattsburgh has a lot of American recruits this year (5 of 6) and their overall roster may have as many as 18 kids from the States. I remember the days when the Cardinals were almost entirely made up of kids from North of the border (I think in 03/04 the roster had only 4 U.S. kids). Has there been a change in recruiting philosophy or something else that has accounted for the shift? It doesn't seem to have had any affect on how talented the team is.

Financial Aid....that and I think the US Junior systems are getting better. Also with Oswegos Aid package, its hard to compete.
