ewww! Looks like I hit a nerve. Still think I'm right though. Overachievement usually followed by a flop.:D

When you're teams been in every SUNYAC Championship game in. The last 20 years, 18 SUNYAC Championships, over 20 NCAA Tourny births, you EXPECT to be where the Cards were last year every year. You may call it overachieving, we at Plattsburgh call it an average year. There's no nerve, you your self said you don't know anything about the coach or program. If the defense can get back to what they were last year, because the talent is there, this team will challenge for more then just a SUNYAC title. If it was a team lacking talent, I'd be wooried. They have it there, its just putting the pieces together. I think coach Emerys record speaks for itself on getting the most out of his players when its on the line.

Looks like we may have a parking lot for the Morrisville game this Saturday! They were blacktopping today when I drove by!

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

Looks like a long season. Were better off when expectations were lower. Looks like sophomore slump for a lot of guys. May be time to ease up and see what develops. I'll admit this is coming from a distance. Don't really know too much about coach or program. Only saw them once on TV couple of years ago. Shutout 2 0 by St. Norbert? Only remember Power Play being ineffective and no changes made. Top guy stuffed repeatedly when trying to shoot. I thought they could have won that game had they made a few adjustments. They definitely had the better team.

So why waste your time acting like you know what you're talking about? I'm sure you have better things to do :D

PLATTSBURGH VS MORRISVILLE

All in all Plattsburgh fans should be quite content with last weekend. We beat a solid Cortland team and competed against (in my opinion) the best team in the country Oswego. Oswego is a great team that looked very solid in all positions. Plattsburgh was badly outshot and most of the game outplayed. Alot of platty fans were calling Leis out, however from what I saw he did his part. He was pepperd with 41 shots from some of the most talented forwards in the nation. Why do I think Platty lost ?? Very simply put, bad team defence and one to many mistakes. Plattys top end scorers Satim and Clarke were nearly invinsible in a game where I would expect them to lead the team. Clarkey did pot one goal but other than that nothing. I expect more from these two seniors and I'm sure they will come back strong. Satim told me after the game it was one of his worst games in a Cards uniform.

On the bright side the Cards have alot of talent! Jensen has looked great so far. I expect Plattsburgh to regroup and come back home and buckle down. This team will be successfull, yes they are off to a poor start, but these bumps with be smoothed out by Emery by the end of the year and the Cards will be a top five team in the nation by years end. Thats is once again my belief.

I hope everyone will be out supporting the Cardinals this saturday night in their home opener. It would be nice to see everyone get out of their seat and make some noise and cheer! Morrisville is not a team to be taken lightly and Emery knows that. They spanked Brockport 8-2 and stuck it to Geneseo 3-2.

Players to Watch:
- Caylin Relkoff- Goalie- Senior
- Dave Shultz- Forward- Senior

Prediction:
Plattsburgh 7 Morrisville 2

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

I'd be insulted but the same 3 guys post over and over on here. So three guys from the burgh are getting their knickers in a bunch. Funny.:D

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

Totally disagree with you on many of your points. Mistakes, yes. "totally outplayed", I don't think so! I"d be careful about making predictions like who is the best team in the country at this point in time also. We haven't seen Middlebury or Norwich take the ice yet, so I'll reserve judgment on that one. No disrespect to Oswego here either. Let's look for more positive comments from Card fans too. The boys played one heck of a game and I for one am proud of their comeback in that game. Work in progress, remember.

Clarke did lead the team, 7 shots on goal. Not sure what else you could expect from him. Also, Satim may have not had his best game, but he made some great passes in the game that people just couldnt convert.

PLATTSBURGH VS MORRISVILLE
Prediction:
Plattsburgh 7 Morrisville 2

They just beat Geneseo 3-2. Relkoff made 47 saves. I don't think we'll hang seven on them. Not with Relkoff in net.

How long does he want to be in the rebuilding process? I hope he figures it out...quick.

if you ever hear a coach say that he is nothing that his team has to work on then your hearing a coach that shouldn't have a job. Emery makes it a point to say that "we're a work in progress" to remind people that there are things that are going to get better as the season goes along. no team is ever going to be "perfect"... even the greatest dynasties in sports lost games and still had things to work on.

Emery makes it a point to say that "we're a work in progress" to remind people that there are things that are going to get better as the season goes along.

He has to come up with new excuses for when his team loses because this one is getting old.

It was understandable last year. I'm not buying it anymore. I hope the team can step up because I've seen a "work in progress" for the last 34 games.

Jeeez! Emery's teams have gone to the last three "frozen fours". Not sure he needs "excuses"!

I understand that we all want to win all the time but it's just not going to happen. we are talking about college STUDENTS who are here for an education, rarely do they go on to make millions of dollars playing in the NHL although it has happened. when was the last time an NFL team when undefeated???? 1972. that long ago... and think, NFL teams only have to play 19 games to go undefeated. sure the "we're a work in progress" line is usually a hated statement that most people think is a load of crap, but even professional coaches use the line because there are things that they feel their team needs to get better at. right now, at Plattsburgh it's defense and defensive mistakes.

And, as noted, Emery's works "in progress" has, in 22 tries, produced 13 NCAA tournament appearances (even if they all weren't exactly "Frozen Four" appearances) and 18 SUNYAC tournament appearances - yielding 11 SUNYAC championships. Enough Said :)

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11

Hockey Cardinals home at last {Excerpt from the Plattsburgh Press-Republican 11/13/2010}

"It's a long awaited home game for us," said Plattsburgh State head coach Bob Emery. "But, we can't believe that just because we're home, we're going to win."
...
"I knew our first four games on the road would be tough ones for us," said Emery. "I would have been satisfied to be 3-1, but I'm not satisfied at 2-2.
"We need to play smarter. We have to control the puck in our own end and not make mistakes. And, we have to be better with our team defense.

"But, those first four games all over. We need to learn from the past and get ready to play."

Perhaps the most telling stat for the Cardinals thus far is allowing 18 goals in the team's four games. Two of the goals came on empty-netters.

"We can't give up four goals a game — we don't want to allow more than two goals a game on an average," said Emery.

"The name of the game is keeping the puck out of our net and we have to stop spotting our opponents a 2-0 lead."

Morrisville (2-1) isn't expected to be an easy opponent for the Cardinals.
...
"Morrisville beat Geneseo and we lost to Geneseo," said Emery. "Morrisville has a good goalie (Caylin Relkoff) and a hot goalie can single-handily beat a team."

Relkoff preserved the 3-2 upset of Geneseo by making 47 saves, including 23 in the third period.

"They don't want to get involved in a shootout — and we have to be prepared to win a 1-0 game," said Emery

Tonight's contest begins a five-game homestand for Plattsburgh State.
...

No. 7 retired

The Plattsburgh State men's hockey team has designated this season to be "The Year of the Fan" and jersey No. 7, representing Cardinal hockey fans, will be retired tonight in honor of the fans' dedication to the team for over 35 years of the hockey program's existence.

The announcement of the jersey number retirement will be made just before the Cardinals take the ice for the game and during the first and second period intermissions.

A little over an hour and a half before the puck drops. It's WIN or BUST. If Morrisville pulls it off, I'm hitting the panic button!
