Young to the NCAA world.

...and young to each other - it could take most of the season to figure out who plays well with whom and how they all play with each other... But I guess that is the riddle ALL coaches try to solve EVERY season....

gotta say after looking at Adrians roster last yr, I think they had about 12 guys who were 24 and 25 yrs old and the rest of the team was over 21yo, that I didnt know how old a lot of these players are, I started my senior yr at 21yo, but was 22 a few days later, and seemed to me I was the old dude LOL......I guess this is what it is today

A lot of them max out their junior eligibility in Canada and then make their way to the States once they realize D-I or the pros aren't going to happen.

It's almost the way you have to do it in Canada nowdays to keep up with the Joneses unless you really are a rare talent.

It will be interesting to see how much talent jumps off the paper and onto the ice from this group. At first glance though it looks like the recruiting year has gone well.
I always wonder "who got away" ,we always hear at some point in the season about a player who starts strong and next its " Emery had him , but he got away" .........

Sadly, too many but eveeyone can say that. There are just more and more teams offering great deals to play these days. However, had all the stars (Pier-Luc, Hince, Galan, Wilson, Smith...ect) ...I think it could have been different. I can't think of one team that has lost so much talent early both quanity and quality, and still been successfull. The class looks good but I think this year hinges on the goaltender. With Adams departing, (arguably one of the best defensive defensemen in the SUNYAC) there will be a lot of pressure on the D and goaltender.

It will be a cold day in hell before they shut this place down. New York States newest and most efficent Max A jail with minimal assualts on staff compared to others. We also just opened a new 60 bed state of the art 20 million dollar mental health unit complete with flat screen tv's in each cell and the coldest air conditioning system I've ever felt. This for some of (and for the most part) worst criminals in NY. Guys that Elmira, Auburn, Clinton, SingSing cant handle. The only good this place did was open up 25 more items for the guys from Onieda to drive 2 plus hours to move into. The state could save so much money if they wernt pushing more money into these old jails. The money it cost to run the old Clintons, Elmira, Green Haven ect is rediculous...and then there is the added "construction" cost each year just to keep them at standard. We could send hundreds if not thousands of kids to college each year for what they spend just in construction to make inmates lives better. For the most part most of the "axing" was done in the Onieda hub. The same region that 1 of 2 State Senators didnt vote in favor of the Govs same sex marrage. Go figure. Its good and bad. Because of the closures jails across the state are opening back up their closed dorms and addimg a few more staff, but to the guys with 30+ years at Oneida.....happy trails. Yet every day we see kids who cant afford school, yet we waste more money on the scum of the state. How this all ties into hockey I dont know lol but with all the schools here in NY and with 70 + correctional facilities across NY, there was a good chance several communities will and have been effected by the closings and fear of. If Joe public had half a clue the tax money that is spent on these people, it wouldnt be pretty.

I remeber our morning runs b4 class at Elmira we would run past the prison and the inmates would yell at us....our reply was always that we were going to be with woman all day and night, that shut'em up ;-))

Don't forget that in NYS every Max jail (except 1) has the FRP program (Family Reunion Program) where inmates get to spend 72 hours with their "family" doing "family" things behind closed doors. The only supervision they get is coming out for the count 3 times a day. You can only imagine what goes on behind those doors. Yes I even frisked a bag of a mother who had a box of condoms, yes condoms.

As I said, every max jail except 1 has the FRP program. The one jail (the one I work at) was actually scheduled to get the program (2 single wide trailers) until the public learned that it was going to cost nearly $800,000 (and no its not a miss print) to put them at the facility. Its only a matter of time before they end up, but once again, your tax dollars at work. Id much rather give it to an international player to get an education then some inmate to have "fun" with his mom.

Flat screens??? Wouldn't it be better to replace the bulky tube TVs from Hispanic households (where the fall and injure an inordinate amount of kids) with the flat screens and give the tubes to the prisons???

UGh dont get me started on the waste in the "system",I did 12yrs as a firefighter in the south bronx, probably where many of your "recruits " LOL, are from and the things they pull are unreal if they put that much time into good things who knows, and YES I'd rather spent the $$ on a International student as well........stay safe

Welcome to the bleeding heart liberal world we live in. And people wonder why we have the highest crime rate in the world. Maybe if jail was a deturant instead of a Hotel complete with free medical, dental, food, electric, water, heat, free education, a free moving company any where in New York State...oh and get paid to sit in your cell all day long.

Coaches won't even look at them unless they are a phenom in New England Prep School and generally those players stay back a year when they attend an do a PG year so they are still 20 when they go away to play D1 or D3. Wondering when the NCAA is going to stop this because ice hockey is the only sport where kids can do three years of postgraduate without losing eligibility. It is a complete joke and a mockery of the education system.

Coaches won't even look at them unless they are a phenom in New England Prep School and generally those players stay back a year when they attend an do a PG year so they are still 20 when they go away to play D1 or D3. Well the US U18's graduate HS and head off the wonderful world of the CHL or D-I. Other than that, a lot do the extra year of juniors and then try college. Some, who hope for the D-I ride until they're 20 but then get smacked in the face by reality, then try college.

21 is for all D-I sports. Ice hockey is the only sport that really uses it because of the junior system.

I was talking with a coworker whos son played baseball at Castleton. They had several older newcomers to the team last season.
