Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11 - "We still have to fine tune some things..."
You really want to go there about “waste of taxpayer” money….come step inside the NYSDOCS and see some of New York Cities finest. Our $4 tickets are pennies compared to the money we shell out to house the trash of NYC. It may not cover the lights, but in jail we always leave the lights on for NYC, just like the city, the scum never sleeps down there.
Secondly, you might want to come up with some facts before you go spouting off once again Mr.Know-it-all. In cased you missed it Nik Sundberg flew in on his private jet from his business firm that he owns with his college degree, from Plattsburgh. Plattsburgh has had more kids leaving college early by GRADUATING with a degree, then most if not any DIII school around with at least 1 to 2 a year. And yes they’ve also had many players transfer to other schools because Plattsburgh IS a liberal arts school and they wanted to further their education in a more specific field that isn’t offered at Plattsburgh, when their original plan didn’t pan out. I know that’s a new concept for you. Just for your viewing pleasure if you WikiAnswer it “What percentage of college students change their major” you come up with an answer of “44 % of college graduates change their major from the second semester of their freshman year till graduation”. Wow who knew!!
Third, Roll did great, sure. When he had 95% of his team Americans he was 30-22-6m 8 games above .500…. IMPRESSIVE!! Wow!! As soon as he went below the 50% mark, he was 42-16-5. Are we seeing a trend here. Even the almighty Roll needed Canadians to win. Facts, wrong, once again. How is Cortland doing with their American dominant roster? Even with one of the better coaches in DIII history?
Did you ever play Juniors? Do you realize the talent pool (especially 5-10 years ago) was so thin in the US, which once all the top US born players were picked up by DI, there wasn’t much left. You had to go to Canada to find talent to win. Amazingly enough, when do you think Oswego started handing out larger foreign financial aid packages? Go down through their rosters and I bet you will see. When do you think most of the SUNYAC schools started doing this as well? Go down through their rosters and look at their out of conference records. SUNY schools don’t have the perks as private schools have and are already behind the eight ball in recruiting, but again you must already know that.
Freshman age. Really? How simple is this to understand? Kids graduate high school, or go play juniors late into their high school years and continue for a few years after. What do you know, if he plays juniors for 2 years post high school, he was 19 when he graduated high school. Wow that would make him 21. Who would have thunk it. I seem to remember a really good 18 year old freshman who just graduated from PSU. So I guess they do squeak in once and a while.
Get off your high horse, if the NY/US born players were that good in the upstate NY/NY region in general, they would make the top teams in DIII. The junior system is still below that of the Canadian systems. They have made huge strides, but its much easier (recruiting wise) to go to Mississauga or Ottawa and watch a Junior tournament and see dozens of potential recruits, then a US junior tournament where you might get a handful of potential recruits for the caliber of players you need to be successful at the level.
Seriously did Emery not pick you for his team or something? Do you have a personal vendetta against him or something? You obviously have no clue what you are talking about as you are proven wrong time and time and time and time and time…..and time and time again. Try sticking to something you actually know about.
