Did any one hear ? There is a Championship Game in Plattsburgh this weekend ? It is going to be wild at Stafford ..... Hopefully Cards roll and we get to host a game in
the NCAA Tourney.

Ryan Craig has been solid all semester , he glides around the ice looking for opportunities ,not flashy ,effective and quietly having a MAJOR impact on this team.

There ,that should jump start the hockey talk , lets leave the other crap out.........boring

Yea! It's going to be rocking. There are posters on campus,Rugar, already so we're hoping for a big student turnout! Got notices about a REDOUT too. We may even have some red on our bodies besides our sweaters! Don't laugh when you see us! See you there, Cardinal Fans!!

Does anybody know if Fredonia will have the band at the Staff on Saturday night? I hope so.

So do I. They were superb last time. I heard Bruce has already warned them that all brass instruments will be confiscated by University Police.

Definitely. They were great! I hope they're at Stafford Saturday night.

A Band adds a lot of atmosphere to a college hockey game. I was disappointed that Norwich's pep band disappeared after the new band guy took over.

Absolutely. Having Fredonia's pep band there would make it the authentic college hockey atmosphere.

Maybe somehow, Bruce could eat crow and ask Tim back for this one! OOPS, forgot too much fat in crow!

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11 - "We still have to fine tune some things..."

I think the editorial is a good one. I, for one, would love to see more and more students, so long as the "hey goalie, your mother called and she said......" chants can be gotten rid of. I'm not unrealistic. A well-placed (especially if it's infrequent) chant of "bull****" at a bad call is a student fan's responsiblity to the team. Show up and be loud in support of Plattsburgh and leave the other team to try and figure out how to come back and win the game...

Plattsburgh will be in the minority if they think they can have a PC and PG student section, but what do you expect from our leaders at Plattsburgh. I understand they have an obligation to not condone all this, but even Mr Hale at Oswego calls it "freedom of speech". But to say "they probably don't even hear it" sounds to me like it comes from a 20 year old mommas boy nerd who's never played organized sports outside family game night of connect four. Check out the BU "the song" on youtube sometime...nothing like 6,000 people screaming "F'em up F'em up BC Sucks". What goes on at Plattsburgh is mild to other schools in any division. I know they are just trying to stop it before it gets out of hand but come on....and then the whole part about bringing in an artificial noisemaker?!?!? My god they make it sound like it was a bomb or something. You remember what the old days were like Steve with the crew and Liguiri battles. Plattsburgh has something good going here, don't F it up!!

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11 - "We still have to fine tune some things..."

I sit in section "C" so I get a good ear full of what is said. It is mild to what I have heard at other sunyac areas. Last season at Potsdam was a good example of students out of control only to be highlighted by an adult PSU fan running down the front row giving them the finger. I enjoy seeing the students participate and liven up the area. The occasional off colored remarks are bound to happen and as long as it is not the norm it can be tolerated by even the most prudish fan (and Bruce). If you take a trip down route 11 or 3 depending on your choice and visit Clarkson"s Cheal Arena you will find the Bonesaw Brigade at every hockey game. This group of students and the pep band keep the arena hopping. While they do have an occasional off colored cheer it is tolorated by the crowd and the college President who is in attendance at almost every game. Here is a list of some of the originized cheers. http://www.bonesaw.org/features.php?mode=view&id=14 and this is the purpose of the brigade.
What is Bonesaw?
The Bonesaw Brigade is about energy, excitement, and overall mayhem. All things that Clarkson Hockey needs more of. If you think you have what it takes, just show up at Clarkson Golden Knight Hockey games, and go crazy. Stand up, cheer, chant, make loud noises, scream at the opposing team's goalie (or sieve), and sometimes even the horrible refs. And when the Golden Knights put a puck into the opposing sieve's net, raise your bonesaws high and let them feel the wrath of the Knights and the Bonesaw Brigade.
So lets take a lesson from our neighbors to the west and have students come out in force and cheer.

I agree if you to any other college hockey game where there is a large student base cheering the team on you are going to get these chants that are aimed at the other team and can be derogitory but that is the atmosphere that a high intensity, high emotion game brings. I have been to everything from High School to Professional Hockey games and generally you will have at least 1 group that will chant something against the away team. I have played different sports and had fans yell negative things at me and all that did was get me more motivated to shut them up by winning the game.

+1

And what is up with:

Members of the student section were also telling Potsdam's goalie just how bad he is and how that relates to a body part of a donkey.

It is not a "a body part of a donkey", it is a "long-eared, slow, patient, sure-footed domesticated mammal, related to the horse, used chiefly as a beast of burden."

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 2010-11 - "We still have to fine tune some things..."

As a long time fan of Cardinal hockey, and as a college hockey fan in general, it's true that what's happening at PSU is quite mild. Just comparing it to the student section at St. Lawrence, Clarkson, or even Potsdam, it makes PSU's student section to be angels most of the time.

Sure, there will always be negative comments at times (at this can be a good thing! Who doesn't support the much needed bulls**t when it's called for, or the "they suck" chant that's been going on at PSU every time the visitor is introduced?), but I find that the atmosphere is actually quite good.

IMO, I'd much rather have a boisterous fan base with some negative comments than an arena of zombies (much like PSU has become over the years).
