Plattsburgh State 23-24

I’ve been told it sold out within 10 minutes of selling to the general public. Haven’t seen anything official from the school, and I’m all set, but was told by a friend they were turning people away at about 5:09…

Update: per the announcement, all seats and rail spots, except student section, are sold out. Student section will be first-come-first-served (students only, of course), and “a limited number of standing-room tickets will be sold at the door beginning at 5:30pm.”

Why the sudden interest? Every damn seat better be filled this weekend… the corporate people better show up…

Why the sudden interest, you ask? It’s the first conference final at the Ronnie B since 2016, of course there’s interest. As for the corporate people, season ticket holders needed to actively purchase their ticket in order to have their seat reserved, so I’m going to guess the number of no-show season tickets will be lower than normal. (I’m not saying there won’t be ANY, but there should be significantly fewer, and even then the standing-room people can just take those seats)

The department is pulling all the stops out to bring in students: free stuff, a cash contest at intermission. Only thing missing is SA shuttle service from campus to the games...hopefully they show up

I’m fairly certain they have been doing a limited shuttle service this season.

Although a shuttle may be good, it is less than 1/4 mile from the main campus to the fieldhouse. It is a lot further to downtown and they seem to walk there without a problem. From an old man that walked everywhere in my early 20s.

There's a significant carrot at the end of the walk downtown..... and the walk back always seems easier!

Plattsburgh is one of the few schools who still charge for their video streams (there is a non-HD version available for free, but you have to sit through a time-HD preview before you can get to that), but they announced today that due to the men’s final selling out and relatively high demand for the women’s final, the HD streams for both finals will be free.

The standard version is always free. You only have to pay to upgrade to HD after 90 seconds. This weekend the HD version is also free as you said.

It's .8 miles from the closest dorm which is one of the freshmen dorms (or was back when I graduated in 2012, not sure if it still is. If you live in one of the further dorms its over a mile, which while I agree the average college student should physically be able to do with no problem the question is do they want to? Also Gen Z is a generation that outside of the kids from places like NYC they are used to being driven everywhere, they would need to be highly motivated by a carrot or stick to do it.

And it's not the most pedestrian-friendly. Unless its changed, there is no sidewalk on the ring road around Stafford or along the side street if one cuts down next to the edge of the HS.

It's just not the most pleasant walk and one has to enjoy hockey to do it. If the students are ambivalent towards hockey they're not going to. I think they are on the right track with how they've hyped the games so hopefully the students turn out.

If it was a beer truck, the kids would show.

Kind of related, but Busters Sports Bar is now offering 15% off food orders postgames to students with both stubs.

And popular sandwich shop Zuke's is offering coupons to students who show up

They are going so overboard, I love it

I'm not about dancing on a team's grave when they're down, but you can tell me I was right whenever :)

I'll pass right now, but you continue to pat yourself on the back... as of 10:21 pm, if Trinity beats Tufts tomorrow, SUNYAC likely gets three teams into the NCAAs.

I would be pretty surprised if Curry doesn’t jump Pburgh after that loss

Also the PW has the SUNY championship registered as a tie right now, not a loss. Which seems odd but must be a typo

He's also one of the idiots who tried to tell us Utica has the #1 sos in the country a month ago. Now its 33rd in the country and is 0.004 or 0.08% better than the schedule he's just made fun of for being soft.

Yeah but the difference here now is, Utica is playing in the NCAA tournament, and would've been without a conference title tonight btw, and by the looks of it, Plattsburgh is not
