Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

Apparently a bookstore in Happy Valley (not PSU's) has shirts with an N(hammer and sickle)AA logo.

They're going renegade. I'm honestly scared the team is going to just forget about winning and start gunning for ACLs on the field to make a statement while the fans cheer for blood.

Actually, that's not a bad t-shirt. I would think it would be a big hit in Grand Forks and Las Vegas, among others.

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

Plus the fact that your school's name is now foremost associated with "child molestation coverup," it's in the middle of bumfark Pennsylvania as opposed to somewhere with a beach, and it will not be seeing a single championship meaningful game for 4 years guaranteed. The recruits you do manage to land won't exactly be studs.

If they had yoinked TV, Penn State would probably have been a 1-AA school inside of a decade.

Whats wrong with Pennsyltucky??? LOL...they will never see a Champion again, let alone these 4 years

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

Honestly, I hope that if the sanctions are are reversed in a court of law, that the NCAA just decides that PSU is no longer fit to be a member at all.

Thought a reversal would be a good thing?

If the NCAA were to decide that, would it be for every sport or just football? Because football is the cash cow.

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

In all seriousness what happens now? Does this create that wiggle room that allows the NCAA to conduct a real investigation?

Will anything really come out of this?

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

There are courts for a reason. If it has no merits, it will be shot down and the school will get additional humiliation. If it goes through, the case will have serious legal validity. Let our legal due process put the hammer down whichever way it falls.

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

At first I thought you were trying to defend Penn State in your original post. Then I realized you were taking a shot at PSU. (Right?)

Yes, I was taking a shot at PSU.

The courts are never wrong!

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

So the Sandusky case outcome may be wrong?

I'd put my money on the courts before message board opinion every time.
If the verdict is overturned on appeal, then what? Not saying it will, but there is always a chance that the prosecution forgot to dot an i or cross a t.

Then the courts would have figured it out. The participants need to use the process properly or it doesn't work...and that includes the appeals process.

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

The irony in this is that everyone but Penn State has filed an appeal with the NCAA, signifying a lot of sound and fury and utterly meaningless posturing.

Paterno family, former players, 1/8th of the board of trustees gone rogue. The consent decree is between the NCAA and Penn State. If you are not one of those two, this case has jack and squat to do with you. Go sit in a corner and fume while you write checks out to the lawyer who conned you into filing.

Aren't the trustees part of Penn State though? Don't they have a lot to do with how the school is run and such? I mean they call the, "Trustees" so they must matter. They canned grandpa afterall.

Yes, and if it was all of the trustees in on this you'd have a point. But, as bronconick said, it's not even half of them.

As a group they already decided to accept it.

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

Didn't say that, just saying the courts don't always get it right, see OJ.

I said let the courts decide through appeal. And you said the courts aren't always right...inferring that they might mess up the appeal. But that's the reason to let the legal process continue...as we might not have gotten the original decision right.

In the end, letting the legal system work all the way through (including appeals) is easily the likely way to get complete justice.

The board appears to be planning to meet Sunday to officially accept the consent decree. That will basically shut down everyone else's avenues for lawsuits unless they file suit against Penn State's board of trustees for "abandoning their fidicuary duty", from what I understand.

So they're going to want lawyers.

The University, via the President, already accepted the NCAA deal, why does it matter what the Trustees do now? If they make a stink about it, don't they realize that the only thing that could come of it is the NCAA getting ****ed off and adding more sanctions?

I really do hope that the idiots at Pedo State keep raising hell and the NCAA does get ****ed off.
