Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

Yoinking TV would have been an immense PITA to attempt to enforce, doubly so when Penn State is in the Big Ten and is a partial owner of the channel that airs all but the top 3 Big Ten football games in a given week.

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

I've never understood why NCAA football teams needed 85 scholarships anyways. I don't see why going down to 65 is going to make them suffer in any way.

Because a chunk of those 85 are guys who aren't quite ready yet, physically and/or mentally, who are waiting their turn, and another chunk of those 85 are guys who never turn into contributors. The smaller your roster is, the less the margin for error. If you're down to 65, you have to hit on all of your evaluations, get more than the normal number of guys who are ready to play immediately, and have fewer than normal injuries. Otherwise, you end up playing more guys who really aren't ready yet (which sometimes means they never end up being ready) or who just aren't very good.

A team with all of their 85 scholarships can use redshirts to get their linemen more physically mature (particularly a big deal on OL where it's very rare for a true frosh to play and play well), isn't crippled if a couple of recruits fail to contribute, and is better able to weather injuries.

Apparently a bookstore in Happy Valley (not PSU's) has shirts with an N(hammer and sickle)AA logo.

They're going renegade. I'm honestly scared the team is going to just forget about winning and start gunning for ACLs on the field to make a statement while the fans cheer for blood.

Re: Penn State Child Abuse Scandal - Revived

"Everything looks to be in order...fair enough, consent decree is revoked. 4-year death penalty begins now. All players and commits are free to leave at any time. *trollface*"

Honestly, I hope that if the sanctions are are reversed in a court of law, that the NCAA just decides that PSU is no longer fit to be a member at all.

This school and its fans are the most pathetic scum I've ever seen. I hope they do go after the NCAA somehow and they get ***** slapped to all hell.

I'm really starting to lean that way, especially if they want to get all pouty over this....

You forgot to include the text on the back of the shirt: "Overstepping their bounds and punishing the innocent since 1906."

PSU can leave the NCAA anytime they want. Membership is completely voluntary and can be terminated at any time on the request of the member institution.

I'm waiting for the gub'mint ruling that the NCAA is a monopo--lololololol nevermind. ;)

The NCAA is a monopoly, but being a monopoly isn't itself illegal. It is using that monopoly power to exploit consumers or stifle competition that gets monopolies in trouble.

Not convincing me....;)
