Penn st. Job?????

Re: Penn st. Job?????

Word out of Duluth is Mike Sandelin has been contacted about the job. Sources say he is ****ed about getting paid less than the womens coach, so who knows
Maybe ****ed isn't the word you're looking for. Perhaps irked or would like more money. Give it to him I say.
Well lets hope the athletic department can make their incomes the same.

It will be interesting to see now that Kathryn Martin is gone, if UMD keeps Shannon Miller for long. Paying her that much money while using a ton of money to bring in European players on scholarship.

Re: Penn st. Job?????

Dennis Leary is going to be ending his TV career so he will be available. Word is he will pick up Tim Robbins and Happy Gilmore as assistants with ALF as strength and conditioning coach. Also strong rumors that Connor Banks has signed his NLI to play at PSU...
Or maybe not.

Re: Penn st. Job?????

Word out of USCHO is that you don't even have the coach's name right. JFC.

Any other programs pay the womens coach more than men's in D1? My bad, I was thinking about Sirty, but none the less Sandelin could be gone. His wife is a Penn State Alum, his is mid 40's and if the money were right could be a tough decision.

Sandelin would be a good choice for the Penn State program.

I'm so glad you informed me of this because it is not elsewhere on the internet!!!!

Good lord, I wasn't saying I didn't believe you, but it's not that hard to get a coach's ****ing name correct.

What if the coach is related to Apu? No one can spell that last name.

Re: Penn st. Job?????

Match salary or not he is gone to Penn State.

Not necessarily. If tUMD pays him what he wants, I believe he will stay. If not, he very well could be gone, depending on what Penn State is offering. His wife may have graduated from Penn State, but he grew up 75 miles from Duluth, has many close friends in the area, has a cabin close by, loves the flexibility that Duluth affords him with his buddies (e.g. leaving for deer hunting after a Saturday night game), and his son is very entrenched in the Hermantown hockey program (hearing he is a budding superstar).

Well said.

It is so easy to say. Well he can go here because this place will pay him X amount more. There is so much more that goes into a decision like this. Money is not the end all. We will see how it ends up.

His decision is going to impact all of the other openings in college hockey because if he goes to Penn State he could take some active assistant coaches with him to Penn State.

Re: Penn st. Job?????

Keep in mind that it wasn't too long ago that some of these same crazy people would have volunteered to help him move.

It would also have an impact on who might like to go to Michigan Tech, if they have not filled their spot by then.

What gets me, is that while they had a fantastic finish this year, and a Final 4 run in '03 (I think) he is a lifetime below .500 as a head coach. Is any other program out there, whether they have a coach under contract or have just released theirs been checking flight schedules to Duluth because they felt they had to lock up Scott Sandelin before someone else did? I highly doubt it.

Re: Penn st. Job?????

I honestly think there's a good chance he would have been fired after the 08-09 season had Stalock not caught fire and carried them to the WCHA Playoff title and the NCAA Quarterfinals.
