PC Run Amok

Re: PC Run Amok

What is Providence College doing in Washington?

Re: PC Run Amok

I'd make a point to start using the term "Tan Sack" just to peeve people off

Re: PC Run Amok

Pretty soon we'll learn that all John Wayne movies will have voice-over so that we won't hear him calling people "Pilgrim" any more because that favors a particular religious sect and so by extension "must be" offensive to all other religions somehow. Not to mention how much of an affront it must be to atheists!

Also, the map of Africa needs to be re-labeled. We can't have countries called "Nigeria" or "Niger" any more, because that sounds too much like another word that puts everyone's knickers in a twist these days.

James Thurber wrote a really funny short story that demonstrated that if you want to make a word meaningless, you say it over and over and over and over, you don't avoid saying it. Sort of like "He Who Must Not Be Named" in Harry Potter: the avoidance of the word is what gives it power.

Moral of the story? Don't dik around with Brooklyn College.

"I've got the sexual mania? You're the one whose been showing me the dirty pictures."

From the article:

The new $107,000 logo scrapped all reference to the clock tower, which was erected in the 1930s.

The new logo amounts to a bunch of words. It’s stiffly horizontal and long. It boasts “Brooklyn College” in large, pinkish letters and “The City University of New York” in the top right corner in small gray letters.

Neustadt Creative Marketing calls the limp collection of words “a fresh, youth-oriented design that would help the college stand out,” according to The Post.
