Re: PC - A new start and a new venue

Congrats to the Friars!
You may have been under the radar before, but the way you handled Qpac has put you on the big screen:cool:
Good Luck tomorrow!

May you be Hockey East's only winner tomorrow:)

This Hawkey kid is supposed to be the real deal too (not as good as Gillies but good)...I think if we started Ellis yesterday, PC still wins 4-1 or 4-0

Agreed not totally sure of the Omaha situation, but Cole Brun (I think that is the last name), started the year on fire and recently it has been all Hawkey playing and he has held his own. I do think he figured he was going back next year when he came into the USHL and might benefit from another year there, as would have Ellis, but guys get thrown into the breech all the time and often they step up and I think we can be fairly confident that Leaman & Co can I'd these guys pretty well.

I guess Bob Driscoll can now proudly call himself "the hockey guy". Certainly the derisive nature of the term is now gone.

Now the story we knew that had mockingly gotten him that title is out to the whole hockey community. Put 2 top 10 teams on the road to success

Re: PC - A new start and a new venue

Nicely done yesterday, Providence. They wanted to thug it up, while your guys smoked them with some dam good hockey.Hope to see you in Philly.

Just looked at the print edition. This Mark Divver story (with great AP photo) takes up most of page one of the sports section. For BBall the Projo ran 3-4 stories every day, including several on page one of the paper. PC Hockey didn't even get the front page sports tease this morning. That was about URI dumping its women's BBall coach. That's my point.

I am thankful for Mark Divver's superb work. Just once it would be nice to see expanded coverage. I am glad we have websites like this to provide in depth coverage.

so when it was 29-12 in shots it was the team and any goalie could have done that..
great tending, hard work, undisciplined play by Q and timely goals. any one of them and maybe a different story. swap goalies and pc would have been even at best, at best

37 saves snd made it look easy. penalty minutes 33-6 against Q

great win but Gillies was huge part of it and Q playing stupid was a big factor.

No ones bickering but to always try and minimize Gillies efforts is insulting to the team. He is the driving force and during his off stretch it was crystal clear. 37 save shutout in NCAA, dramatically outshot but we would have won without him. His success is contageous and is a huge momentum push for team ... When gone some might appreciate more. maybe

I didn't think Gillies was the difference in the game. You thought he was but that is why we have opinions! ;-)

Gillies was miles better the last time these two teams played down at The Q...he was making ungodly stops that found QU players with hands in their heads...

pc came to play and was tight all night, very good effort. only point us to make 37 saves look that easy, literally shows how on he was. zero 2nd chances. if he had let in a softie, that kills momentum. 33-6 in penalty minutes was huge as well. especially when samuels-Thomas was injured and jones soent si much time in box.
great win but several components were critical, jon gillues being one of them

Re: PC - A new start and a new venue

Great game last night! Went to CBS scene in foxboro and I guess one of the managers is an alum and put the game on the big projectors. If I cant go to the game I always go there because even if they don't put a game on the big screens you can grab a table with your own T.V. Just bought tickets for today, and leaving in a few. Can't wait!

how is that possible, shutout with 37 saves. what was he supposed to do score..?.

Ok, he wasn't tested better?

In the first QU game, he was stoning guys on breakaways, and making saves on shots like Luke's goal yesterday. Team didn't have a defensive breakdown and gillies was beat on a wrist shot that hit the crossbar.
